I appreciate the ability to picnic and sit with adults only. Beautifully maintained. Good wines too, like the Norton.
Highly recommend do not use it for FAMILY events. We recently celebrated my nephew’s 6th birthday in the kids’ section of Red Bull Winery. My sister and her husband had rented a covered tent for the occasion. I’m currently in my second trimester and had my 13-month-old baby with me.
When we ( my mom, my baby who I was holding and myself) entered the main indoor area around 6 pm (where guests can purchase bottles, order small bites, and taste wine), we went to use the ladies’ restroom on the first floor. It was packed and, unfortunately, didn’t smell very pleasant. My mother then noticed a staircase leading to the second floor. Since there were no signs or notices indicating that guests were not allowed upstairs, we assumed it would be fine to quickly go up and find a cleaner, less crowded restroom to change my baby’s diaper.
As we started walking up, a woman behind the counter on the left side of the main area — the section where people buy wine bottles and snacks — very abruptly called out to us, “Where are you going?” The lady also spoke to us in a raised, unnecessarily loud and aggressive tone, frightening my baby and causing unnecessary stress to my unborn child as well. I assumed she was a manager. Her tone was extremely rude and condescending, as if we were doing something inappropriate or disruptive.
That was absolutely not the case: I’m pregnant and cannot drink, holding my 13 month old baby who needs an change of a super asap, and my mother, who is in her mid-60s, doesn’t drink either. We were simply looking for a clean space to change my baby’s diaper. The woman told us we were “not supposed to go upstairs” and that there was a changing station in the downstairs restroom. However, it wasn’t what she said — it was how she said it. Her tone was disrespectful and unnecessarily harsh. My mother, who doesn’t speak English, felt frightened and offended, and I felt extremely uncomfortable and stressed — something no pregnant woman should experience during what was meant to be a joyful family celebration.
As someone who previously worked as an assistant to a general manager at a fine restaurant in Dupont Circle, I understand how proper customer service should look: with respect, empathy, and professionalism. What we experienced was the opposite.
I sincerely hope Red Bull Winery addresses this issue. People representing the brand — especially in guest-facing roles — should treat customers kindly and respectfully. Unfortunately, this encounter left a very negative impression and completely overshadowed what should have been a wonderful family outing.
This winery tasting experience was one of my favorites that I’ve had with a special thanks to Jeff who presented us with our very affordable tasting! He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and kind!! There were light snacks for purchase after you finish sampling and they were enjoyable with a beautiful view of the vineyard. I’d highly recommend this winery!!
Had an amazing time at The Winery at Bull Run! Josie was an amazing host and took the time to get us set up for the Haunted Wine Tour very thankful to her!
Dude, the Winery at Bull Run is freaking sweet. First off, the wine—holy crap—it’s like they took grapes, made them classy, and then made them awesome. I don’t even like sharing, but I’d almost let Kenny have a sip. Almost. They’ve got so many kinds of wine it’s like a Pokémon thing—you just want to try them all.
The staff? These people actually know what they’re talking about. You ask them something about tannins or vintage, and they don’t look at you like you’re a moron. They’re nice too, which is weird, because usually people who know stuff act all fancy.
And the outdoor setup? Perfect. You can sit there, crush one of their house pizzas, and sip your wine while pretending you’re better than everyone else. It’s like adult Disneyland but with less screaming kids and more Merlot.
10 out of 10. Would go again, unless Kyle’s there, because he ruins everything.
Need more help at The wine tasting counter. We stood there for a long time to do a tasting, and wasn’t even greeted or a hey welcome we’ll be with you soon. For a Friday traffic not good.
With the weather being colder, we didn’t want to sit out and all the tables were filled inside. So after our tasting we left. It seems like a nice place, but the first impression was lacking for us.
Great wine selection and atmosphere
Interesting place, but not really convenient for guests who have the dogs. The dogs are just allowed in small dogs area with few tables. And if you came just yourself no way to order a wine :( Least they have to provide the waitress’s service or maybe we could scan and order the delivery of wine 🍷 to this area 🐶
Lisa is such an asset to the winery she always has a smile on her face and is so friendly! They are so fortunate to have her as an employee. Love her!!!
After spending almost every weekend — and hundreds of dollars — at The Winery at Bull Run this past summer, I’m shocked and deeply disappointed by how poorly we were treated during what was supposed to be a joyful celebration. We will not be returning.
On Sunday, October 10th, I hosted a small baby shower with 10 friends. We arrived around 2:50 PM with my husband and our 5-year-old daughter, who was helping me set up. Two of my guests had 5-month-old infants sleeping peacefully in strollers.
Shortly after we arrived, an employee came over and, in a rude and aggressive tone, informed us that the area was 21+. I immediately had my daughter leave with my husband. Moments later, a second staff member approached us in a much more professional and kind manner, congratulated me, and explained that while children typically aren’t allowed, the area was nearly empty due to weather (only 2–3 other tables were occupied), and she would make an exception for the sleeping infants. We appreciated the courtesy and stayed — with the understanding that we had permission to do so.
About an hour or so later, the first employee returned — this time even more aggressive. She raised her voice in front of our entire group and scolded us publicly, accusing us of ignoring her earlier instructions. Her tone was unprofessional, hostile, and frankly humiliating. She spoke to us as if we were children misbehaving — not paying guests celebrating a milestone event.
Let me be clear: if there was an internal miscommunication between staff, we would’ve understood a polite, respectful clarification. But the yelling, condescending attitude, and public embarrassment we experienced was completely unacceptable.
This winery clearly does not value its loyal customers or know how to handle situations with basic courtesy and professionalism. For a business that markets itself as a welcoming destination, this behavior was disgraceful.
We’ve spent a lot of time and money here — but never again. There are plenty of other beautiful wineries in the area, like Stone Tower Winery, that offer exceptional service without the disrespect.
No guest — especially one hosting a celebration — should be treated this way.

My son and I had a great experience at The Winery at Bull Run. My son had his first ever wine tasting and we were treated with warm hospitality from their SUPERSTAR employee there named Melissa. She was extremely accommodating and very informative about their delicious wine selection. Going the extra mile stuff deserving of 5-stars. Thank you very much, Melissa. We will absolutely be back to visit this beautiful winery.
WORST STAFFS EVER .
Came here couple times with friends and family and every single time, the staffs, waitresses or whoever is attending the bar are rude and very uninviting.
They just don’t CARE …. Period.
They dont care if we are standing by the bar to be asked if we can be helped.
They don’t care if you are a newcomer to the winery or someone that are regular.
They just don’t care.
The staffs at the bar are very rude and unhappy towards the customers.
I would not mind if the wine taste great but wine is not even that great but cheap, and they are very expensive.
DID I mention about the staffs not caring ? And RUDE ?
NOT PET FRIENDLY, NOT PEOPLE FRIENDLY .. I would pass on this place.
Many other great wineries down the street

I recommend this winery for the decent ambiance and nice staff. You can find a wine to your liking, I’m sure!
Airing of Grievances: Their website says live music at 5, but it didn’t start till 6:30. Also, their mulled wine was lukewarm-come on, now!
Not a good time. No mind for customer experience and everything was stressful.
We had an hour to kill and it was nearby. We spent most of the time in lines. No table service. Ordering wine was crowded, no flights and only tastings so the lines were super long. The food inside is over priced and the food truck outside had a 25 minute wait and they messed up the orders. The umbrella outside turns in the wind so you can’t block the sun. Really would not recommend
Our tasting experience with Jess from the staff was disappointing. We felt rushed throughout, which made the service come across as unwelcoming and poor. Unfortunately, this left us with such a negative impression that we will not be returning or recommending this establishment.
Overall the establishment has a nice vibe.
