We learned this restaurant until they closed at the beginning of 2021. If they reopen we would be there in a heartbeat. They had excellent Middle Eastern food at great prices. So sad to see them go. Guessing they were another victim of Covid.

We love Basil! You might be thinking it is a tad pricy, but I promise it is with it. They give you a ton of food and it is all delicious. I’ve had several items from their menu and I can recommend gyros, subs & paninis. Very decent fries and we've even gotten a complimentary slice of cheesecake.

This incredible place is a gem. Situated nicely outside the congested heart of downtown Charlottesville, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and the service was fantastic. Most importantly the food was AMAZING. Fresh ingredients, plated beautifully, with amazing flavors. The wine and beer selection was also expansive. We are from out of town and would love to go back!

Food is very good. They will also take some custom changes as a lot of their menu is cooked to order. We ordered the seafood soup for our daughter and they were able to change the base to vegetable instead of gorgonzola which she would not have liked. Prices are a little on the high end for this type of cuisine but its worth it. Their online menu is very well done with pictures for every dish. We will be back next time we are in the area for sure. Oh and grape leaves were the best we have ever had and my wife is lebanese!

REALLY good food! Just ordered two pasta specials off GrubHub though and the cheesecake was missing. I just reached out to let them know (because their drivers notoriously don't get everything or check the orders before they leave). They refunded me both meals which is NOT what I asked for. I feel awful and I'll definitely come back again (and again) in person as I know GrubHub keeps a pretty hefty percentage. I just couldn't muster going out tonight... Long week. Just wanted to give a shout out as the food was excellent and extremely filling. Lots of leftovers! Definitely check Basil out as you won't be disappointed!

(Late entry for this year) If we could just relocate this gem to Virginia Beach I would be ecstatic! There wasn't plentiful outdoor seating, however what they lacked in seating they made up in the food portions!! We opted to be seated inside, where there was no one. Our waitress was very friendly and lively with an overall positivity and playfulness. The food was phenomenal and at decent prices that are palatable. You definitely receive quality and quantity! My sister's frutti d' mare was a bountiful heaping of deliciously salivating seafood beautifully plated. My sister may be petite but she packs a veracious appetite in that little body. That frutti d'mare didn't stand a chance! Every single morsel was savored. The appetizer we shared was generous as well- adorned with olives, hummus and every vegetable imagined in a Mediterranean diet. My salmon plate entree came with a huge salad which ended up on the long journey home to VB and ended up as a second dinner. In spite of the marathon of food we threw down our pie holes, we opened up some real estate for some exotic bomba by sharing it. MMM hmm!! I'm not a white chocolate fan but, sweet mother of mayhem did this passion fruit & mango encased in this white chocolate shell incite a food orgasm. I'm telling you folks, this is food porn at it's best! If you're a local C-villian and you're not a frequent flier, what are you waiting for?!? If you're an out of towner such as myself, well you better make that side trip or bookmark this place if you find yourself in this neck of the mountains. You won't be disappointed!!

Have done takeout from here. Consistently accurate orders and so efficient. They also seem to be taking appropriate safety measures every time I go and pick up the food. Food is very good - especially their gyro, lamb/beef kabob, and chicken kabob platters. Have yet to have a bad experience with this restaurant and is definitely a go-to place. Highly recommend.

Basil is one of my FAVORITE places to eat in Cville. Usually places with a large menu do no foods well, but I have loved everything here from their burgers to their hummus! This place is a gem and so unique. You also gotta love a place that sometimes gives you free salad during the pandemic

I am a long time customer of Basil-- beginning at their Corner location, and now at the 5th Street Station, and my favorite salad of any salad that I have ever had in the world is the Belly Dancer! Also, I can order any Mediterranean delight that I choose and am confident that it will come out so perfect and tasty. For example, tonight I ordered the Phoenician Tastings plate which might usually be ordered as a group appetizer, but I ordered it all for myself! First off, the staff that I encounter are like the most amazing humans! I don't know where they find their beautiful staff members! Such great and attentive service! And finally, in this time of Covid, I of course ordered to go. What impressed me even more is how carefully and delicately each item was packaged and presented for me in my mere to go package. Such attention to detail! I felt the love of their preparation even in this time of Covid!
