Food quality was variable. Burrata salad was pretty good, vegan tamale not so good, garlic bread not so good, crab cakes were ok, and short ribs were good. Server was a bit awkward but ultimately provided decent service. Sit outside--kitchen fumes a bit strong inside.

Charlottesville is lucky to have a dining establishment like Bizou! I'm a local and this is a spot we go to at least once a month. Outside dining offers great Al' Fresco dining. Inside has a unique old-world that passes the vibe check, no cringe. The menu updates seasonally and always offers a few great new dishes.
We went for restaurant week because I'm always curious how quality is during these higher volume times. Bizou knocked it out of the park. Great portion sizes, balanced meals with texture, and amazing service. They didn't cut any corners with Restaurant Week and seemed to go even harder to provide a great experience.
Some of the reviews are a little hard on the service; I have a different perception. When you come to Charlottesville, become part of the community while you're here and you'll have a fuller experience. Actually engage with the people around you - connect with them as people and listen to their stories. One of our servers shared his excitement to be going to Northwestern in the fall to study Engineering. For free, we got to see and feel his excitement about the future. Did my water glass sit empty for a little bit longer than if I were at a fancy-dancy restaurant, maybe - but I'm also a camel and drink way too much water so I can't fault them. Regardless, I don't really care because I got something out of the experience that was truly beautiful.

Food is fantastic. Wine list is complete. Only comment is to take a day with the staff on the wines & proper serving temps. Beautiful bottle of 2022 Chablis came out slightly under room temp. Had to ice it down to bring it to its glory.
Was genuinely great otherwise. Just take the time to educate the super star staff on the wine.

Average food not worth $60
My wife and I enjoyed a terrific restaurant week menu and sat at the bar, where Oscar made terrific drinks and even better conversation. Will definitely return during our next trip to Charlottesville!

Bizou is a Charlottesville gem - all around lovely experience: Warm and welcoming staff, innovative and delicious food, impressive servings, and a fun, funky, retro atmosphere. We were there last night for Cville Food Week, even with the very reduced pricing for the event, we still experienced all the highlights afore mentioned. Memorable dining at its best.
Eggplant was horrible! Overcooked, greasy, unable to eat. Should never have been served. I ate a few bites of the so-so side salad but did not ask for another meal as the one served to me so terrible. When paying the bill I asked for my meal to be removed. Manager that I never saw refused. Waitress advised they will only fix something else from the menu. No apologies, nothing to make me ever go back.

A Cville treasure! Great menu with local ingredients executed perfectly. Sit outside if the weather permits or grab a cozy booth inside. We had the roasted beet salad with seared salmon for lunch.
Amazing food and friendly service.
My salmon was perfectly cooked and the beet salad was balanced and heavenly.
Run don’t walk here.
Sat down at 8pm. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Lamb croquettes and a salad. Croquettes were OK. Salad was very good. Ordered dinner at 8:25 pm. Crab tortellini and short rib lasagna. After waiting for 45 minutes, we asked server what the hold up was. He said our food was coming right out. 15 minutes later is showed up. I asked what the problem was and he said a large take out order was called in right when our order was submitted. I called BS on that since two other couples sat down after we did and ate a full meal and were gone before we were served. Tortellini tasted old. Lasagna was bland. I don't recommend this place.
Super disappointing. Used to be great. Hot inside, hostess didn't listen of provide good customer service. My mom was handed a silverware roll up and the napkin wasn't even folded. No manager on duty felt like it was being run by a bunch of 20 years olds.
