I planned a holiday luncheon for a group of 25. I was told we would be on the patio, but that it would be completely enclosed with heaters. I called the evening before to verify that the space would be warm because outside temperatures had been quite bitter and the managers response was “it’s hard to judge everyone’s threshold, but it gets so warm out there we are often asked to turn off the heaters.” Based on his feedback, we went forward with the luncheon. When we arrived, the patio area had vinyl sides up that were not well attached and freezing cold air was rushing in, heat lamps had not been turned on in advance, they were not adequate to warm the space during the luncheon, the chairs had no padding and were very cold to sit on, the table was so cold we used our menus as placemats to try to keep our food warm enough to eat, and the floor of the patio area had trash and debris all over it as well as overturned chairs and tables in the corner. It never got to 50 degrees during our entire lunch. Everyone’s feet were frozen when we left and most at the table ate lunch in their coats and gloves. Management was out of options to provide us additional space due to completely overbooking the restaurant. We were offered no discount, gift certificates for future use, nothing for their management failure. Food was adequate but everything god cold too quickly. We have been to Burtons several times in the past and this was just a colossal management failure that ruined a holiday luncheon for our group.

We were seated in a freezing tented area. This dispite our hostess calling the night before. My toes are so cold i cant feel them. The fries cooled off within minutes. No apology from the restaurant .

This place is a bit expensive; the food should be better for what you pay. On a recent visit we had a salad, a burger, a chicken and pasta dish, and a cheesecake. The cheesecake was excellent and the salad eater was okay with her salad. The burger wasnt bad but it was hard to eat — too tall. The breaded chicken cutlets were fine but dull. The pasta on the side was insipid and embarrassing. Overall, the food wasnt bad, but for what they charge it should be better.

What i really love about here is they are very understanding to if you need any meal gluten free or have any allergies My husband set up a beautiful dinner that evening for me with the celebration of my birthday and the waitress we had was super sweet and very very kind food was ok but dessert was even more delicious!! I would recommend this restaurant if giving any option to have a great verity of food. Thank you Burton Grill & Bar for making my B-day special ❤️

I’m afraid the secret will get out, and the place will become over-crowded but damn, they are just consistently excellent. We stopped in on a Saturday evening and were able to grab seats at the bar without waiting. Despite the establishment being almost full to capacity, the service was outstanding. Our food arrived quickly, it was perfectly prepared to order, and the portions were large. I’ve never had a bad meal at Burtons. They are one of the best steak houses in Charlottesville. The bartender dealt with an obnoxious customer in a professional manner that was far better than the customer deserved, and she did it while they were very busy. The staff at Burtons have always impressed me. The place is always clean, always well run and the food is excellent. If you’re looking for a good experience, I recommend Burtons Bar & Grill. The price is higher than some other local options, but you get good food and excellent service for that money.

Jennifer provided us with stellar guest service: her demeanor, attitude, professionalism, and warmth alone are enough to make us return to Burton’s. She created a wonderful, memorable experience that is among the best we have received anywhere. On a scale of 1 - 5, she easily deserves a 20 and that is no exaggeration. She has mastered the art of attentiveness without hovering.
We went for brunch and sat outside in their enclosed patio. A lovely, quiet setting. We enjoyed a hot lobster roll (which contained much more lobster than our favorite place in Florida) and their method of preparing the bread was the perfect counterpoint to its succulent contents. We also ordered their rib eye (delicious) with Parmesan sprouts (wow) and broccoli (another standout). Thank you, Jennifer, for outstanding customer service and Burtons for an excellent meal!
