We went in expecting the positive reviews to be accurate. I’m very confused and wonder if they got the negative reviews removed. Upon entering, it smells overwhelmingly like mold and must. The lady there wasn’t too friendly or interested in helping us. After we already ordered and she gave the box, we were confused as we weren’t intending to leave. When we sat down, she rudely said it’s a different price if we’re sitting at a table. Um…. What? She didn’t ask dine in or carry out, there was zero signs saying this, and it was just… unpleasant and awkward. She had no idea we were checking out this place for our wedding order because we wanted to see it as it truly was, not through an appointment where they are on their best behavior. We sure got it.
We tried the cake sampler. lemon was the most awful I’ve ever tasted. The others are mediocre, really underwhelming, dry, old, oily frosting that leaves a film on your tongue/mouth. I felt sick after just half of the first slice. Even more so with the mold smell throughout the business. Makes you wonder if the spores are present elsewhere. Just a bad experience and not worth the drive from DC. We wasted $50 dollars but at least we won’t make the mistake of relying on them for our most important event.

Went for a celebration with my partner and had a not so enjoyable experience. The cake however was great. Shared a sampler of three pieces and they exceeded expectations for flavor, texture, and presentation. The service was poor. The check was presented to the person with the birthday, flies were landing on everything (including our food/drink), the staff break room is apparently a table out on the floor, the staff also loudly and openly mocked an elderly customer after they got off the phone with them for having difficulties with their website to each other, nothing was offered when asking for something to help with the flies, the paint by numbers activity came with one giant brush that made it impossible and frustrating, service was slow came all at once and then we weren’t checked in on the staff just sat at the break table on their phone.
The total bill for paint by numbers and cake sampler for two was over $100, we didn’t drink our drinks because of the flies crawling in them, could never get staff’s attention to address these issues, and when all of this was presented to management (after the bill had been paid) I received a sorry and here’s 25% off a six dollar cake slice please try us again. Disappointing
So, I gave the 8 piece cake box as a gift to dear friends. This is the text I received from them: "I am still out of breath squealing over these works of art that are beautiful sugar confections called cakes!!! They are absolutely spectacular. My only regret is you didn't see us open the delivery and turn into idiots! Yum! We are truly blown away. One thousand kisses in thanks." This is their thank you, word for word. So I don't think I need to say more, but I will.... My other gift recipient, besides gushing over how beautiful the cakes looked, also praised the delicious taste. So. on behalf of my gift recipients, 5 stars!!

What a sweet little place! Amazing cake and coffee. Visited on a whim after enjoying the mountains with my boys. The bakery down the street had nothing on their shelves, were not friendly so we left. Cake Bloom to the rescue! Great, smiling, friendly staff, too. Wish there was more space, tables but we will be returning every time we are in Charlottesville!

I cannot say enough about this experience. I live away but needed a cake for a friend. I was total chaos and these folks helped in every possible way. It was beyond exceptional customer service, it was the way you would treat a close friend or family member. The cake is beautiful and I’m positive also delicious.
