They had only two non-dairy options on my last visit there. Before that, they had none. It’s iffy at best. Updated from previous review on 2026-01-09

Love this small little gem. Each ice cream is homemade and you can tell! The butter pecan is so delicious!

Classic ice cream parlor vibes with delicious ice cream right on the downtown mall. The price, the service, and the flavors are outstanding.

The apple pie and gingerbread ice cream flavors were both really good. The place itself is nicely decorated with a fun retro style, and it’s a cute spot downtown.

I have grown up here in Charlottesville and so had my boyfriend. Chaps has been one of our favorite places to go from day 1 with each other!! The service is always so kind and top notch!! Their new gingerbread flavor is amazing!!!

Literally the worst Ice Cream place in Virginia, hands-down. The ice cream tasted like nothing, got the Apple Pie and the Banana Cream Pie Ice Cream.

I asked if the apple pie ice cream had piece of actual apple pie in it, and he said, yes, most definitely, although it clearly didn't look like it did. Got it and lo and behold, no pie pieces whatsoever. In fact, it didn't taste anything like apple, or pie, or anything at all. Just sweet milk. I was confused.

The banana Cream Pie tasted also like sweet milk, no real flavors to speak of. Banana is a pretty distinct flavor, natural or synthetic, and even a trained chimp wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The Ice Cream Waffle Cone was also pretty flavorless and underwhelming as well. Texture of Waffle Cone also sucks, and has no integrity. Cone turns to powder and crumbles after one nibble. Would only recommend to my Enemy.

The joke of a worker behind the counter, and you likely know who he is, sucks. Glad I don't live in Charlottesville or else I'd personally get a petition to get this place shut down and boarded up.

Ice cream had the best texture and flavor. Truly hand made.
