It was an easy place to find seating, the service was outstanding and the food was great. Definitely try this place out when you are in town

BURNT MY BURGER! Seriously great atmosphere, onion rings, beer selections, TV's for viewing, and service. (Bartender was fab.) But they burnt my burger! C'mon man! Medium well should be just barely pink or just barely brown (depending on thickness) - either way it should still be juicy and tender. Mine was burnt, black outside, dry and chewy inside. Other than a burger specialty place with burger in its name that doesn't know how to cook burgers to the proper temperature, everything else, including the burger bun and fixings was awesome. But doneness or temperature was a fail. No I didn't send it back or tell my Server because that is a pain, and then you have to wait and make the rest of your party wait for them to correct their poor attention to detail.

This was such a great experience. The food was fantastic. The meat used for the burgers was delicious. The truffle fries are a must. As I was boxing up my food wondering how to carry it, I was offered a bag. The service was attentive and friendly. There were crayons to keep my toddler entertained we were very impressed and will definitely be back!

My wife and both agreed that this place had the best onion rings and sweet potato fries we have ever experienced. Our server Rollan was courteous and professional and let us know exactly how to order for our first ever visit. I wish I would of had some room for dessert, because the main course was amazing. We will certainly visit again on our next trip.

A big greasy burger but not in a good way. Nothing about it tasted fresh and the beef, bacon, onion and mushrooms were indiscernible. The fries were really inedible—either old and refried or simply very old grease because they had that dark, heavy look that comes from being full of grease. My first and definitely last visit. Oh, and all this greatness for only $28+ before tip.
Love the outdoor patio seating of the historic downtown Charlottesville CB. Our burgers were tasty and HUGE...and we enjoyed every last bite. Pretty good draft beer list, too.

Citizen is a great stop for a great burger. It's a low key place with a few high class touches to make it feel well rounded. The food is delicious and the service is prompt with friendly staff
