Friendly staff but the food is strictly microwaved. Dead as a stone on a Sunday afternoon, I was the only customer.

Super friendly place. Staff was amazing and very helpful when choosing a beer. Eric’s recommendation of the ChillyNelson was delicious.

The bartender Erick and cook Nick are awesome people. Very friendly and personal, they both recognized us as soon as we walked in. We brought the motorcycle from Fredericksburg to see them and have amazing food and drinks. I had the BD Cuban Sammie with the German potato salad, and the wife had the Garlicky Caesar Salad.

We walked in to grab a drink on a Saturday at 8:15. There were a few patrons outside but inside the bartender told us he had already called last call and that we could watch the game on the TVs but could not order anything. Calling last call over 45 mins before closing time is a bit extreme and
definitely missed out on some sales.

Absolutely fantastic spot for after work drinks, meeting up with friends, or just enjoying some solo time. Erick, Nick, Taylor, Michael, and Charles are top-notch and very attentive to customers' individual needs. Best thing they've introduced recently is their Smash Burger menu; the Bourbon Orange Smash sauce is out of this world good. From the atmosphere to the staff, it's always a good time at Devil's Backbone Backyard.

My god has this place turned around from when it was skipping rock. This place is a marked improvement from the previous management. The new manager Eric is a man of the people. The smash burgers are to die for. The bourbon orange smash sauce is PHENOMENAL. I cannot recommend this establishment more.

Devils Backyard is great. Way more consistent with open hours now. The new manager Eric is amazing. Love the sauce on the smash burgers!

Went to this location today Sunday June 2nd at 1:30pm. Drove all the way from Varina Virginia to Charlottesville VA and hour and a half to meet with a group of friends that were coming from areas in Northern Virginia to surprise my husband with an afternoon of fun and drinks at the brewery that bares the name of his favorite beer in the whole world. He is a big fan of the Devils Backbone Vienna Lager. Only to find the location closed with no one there on site. Come to find out the employees decided to have a sick out today and they decided not to open the location. No note on the door or anything. So had to drive the hour and a half back home. A day of surprise ruined. So sad. I was so excited when I learned that there was even a Charlottesville location. Please y’all do better. Would love to try again one day soon.

We love the main location, and this little city-based location is a fun addition. The staff are friendly, and knowledgeable about the drinks available, and the people watching (main st views) is bar none.Come here for an after work cocktail or a Saturday pregame; you will not be disappointed.

This place is amazing! The food is delicious, the beer is even better. Dizzy and Sam and Colin are absolutely wonderful! I had my first and second experiences here and can't wait to go back!

Would NEVER go back. Went with a friend who specifically listed her allergies (including dairy and eggs) to the staff, then received a dressing containing eggs and chips containing dairy... Chef was dismissive and didn't seem to care. Stay away, they clearly can't be bothered to care about their customers.

If you have food allergies, do not come here. Staff had no idea what was in the food they were serving. Not worth trusting this place to take care of your health even with clear notice of allergens.

Friend was served a dressing containing eggs when she specifically disclosed her egg allergy to the staff, prompting an allergic reaction. When given this information, the chef was dismissive, claiming that he was very busy and "had tried his best." Situation was completely mishandled and will not be going back.
