Such great food options! The crab cakes were among the best in the area! The service was exemplary, and we complimented our server on her taking great care of us. We'll visit again.

As always, a great night at Duner's. The food was great and the staff took good care of us.
We were given the area in the restaurant requested, menu was diverse, our waiter was generous and helpful and we didn't feel rushed at all. Great evening.
The experience from arriving through dessert was terrific. The rockfish entree was delicious, presented and prepared perfectly. It was a lovely place for an intimate birthday meal. The service was excellent too!
Food was excellent. Service was good. The entrees arrived quickly so hold off ordering. Was surprised by the addition of a 'service fee' added to the bill.
This was my second time and I can't imagine ever being disappointed at Duner's! This last time I was with a picky group of men and they were SO happy and wowed by everything. So delicious and our waitress was so great. Loved it all!! Already have another reservation lined up.
We had a wonderful relaxed meal. The trout was superb, the brussels spouts were outstanding, and overall everything was delicious!
Duner's is a great restaurant. Food is fantastic and the atmosphere makes you feel like you want to stay longer.
Let me start by saying I USED to love this place! I would eat here as a student at UVA for very special occasions and always had fond memories. However, we returned recently after many years and the experience was very disappointing. Our waitress forgot about us for long stretches of time and the meal dragged on and on as if we were forgotten. We had our children with us (12 and 9) who are used to eating out and are very patient but we still had to approach the waitress and ask for our orders to be taken. And even then, after ordering it took them >30+ minutes to bring out their food....and we're talking buttered noodles with some parmesan cheese since they didn't have any child friendly options. I had to ask our waitress to please check and bring their food ASAP and when it did arrive it was cold!
It was just a series of service errors....culminating in like a 3+ hour meal for 2 just courses. Ridiculous. The food does taste good but they gotta get their service game together. Maybe the server was new but it just felt like she wasn't sensitive to our needs at all. And then, what's really shady is that AFTER we left, I get an Open Table email that our reservation (which I had personally checked in for with the host) was miraculously cancelled. I emailed the restaurant and they had no response. I think it's because they didn't want us being able to leave a bad Open Table review.
I doubt we'll go back...which is sad for me because it always had a special place in my heart.

We've eaten at Duners many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always well prepared and delicious, the portion sizes are appropriate, and the service is excellent. The fact that many of the wait staff have been working there a long time speaks volumes in itself. The casual atmosphere makes it very comfortable, if rather loud, something that can't be helped due to the acoustics of the rooms. We will be back!

We had a wonderful experience at Duner's for my parents' 49th wedding anniversary. The food was exceptional, with very generous portions and perfect flavors. And we were very well taken care of by the service team!
The Duner's staff last night (11/12/2025) was absolutely stunning! I proposed to my, now, fiancé a few hours before coming to Duner's. Upon arrival, our waitress asked if we were there for any special occasion. I told her that I had just proposed to the love of my life sitting across from me. The Duner's staff then proceeded to make an already amazing day even better! They started by giving us two glasses of champagne on the house. We both ordered drinks then had our appetizer and entrees. We were stuffed and the food was amazing! Our waitress then asked if we were interested in dessert. We respectfully declined. Then, she said that if we chose to get dessert, that it too would be on the house! We were already astonished by the tremendous service at this point. Then the check comes and I notice Duner's had taken care of our two drinks we ordered! We had such a great dinner and were on the way to our car when a staff member, I believe it was the bartender, stopped us outside and gifted us a bottle of champagne!! And then proceeded to congratulate us once again. So in total, Duner's gave us two glasses of champagne, two cocktails, a dessert, and a bottle of champagne on the house! I truly want to thank Duner's and the tremendous service and generosity we received. 10/10!! I cannot wait to come back in the future with my soon to be wife!
Food was very good though my steak was very salty (& I love salt but this was a bit much). Noisy but beautful atmosphere. We will be back.
Despite hearing from many people that this is one of their favorite Charlottesville restaurants, I was a bit let down on my second visit by the visual appeal of the four main courses served. --a distinct lack of color and overall "pizzazz". My husband agreed. Hopefully, this was a one-off.
Duners is such a hidden gem in the Charlottesville area. I've been going there for years for dinner and had the pleasure of sharing it with some out of town friends this weekend. As always, Duners never disappoints!
