Fleurie has always been a 'go to' for special occasions. We were there to celebrate my birthday and were welcomed by the staff who extended birthday wishes and had printed Happy Birthday in the menu as well. The French cuisine was beautifully prepared and elegant. The prix fixe menu was superb with many special choices and additional courses offered by the outstanding chef. Appetizers we enjoyed were the lobster bisque and a special lobster claw with ratatouille. Main courses were a special lobster tail with pasta in carbonara sauce (light, tender pasta was incredible) and veal chop (generous portion and cooked to perfection). Desserts were creme brulee and a pistachio blondie with pistachio ice cream--both delicious. In between were special courses (probably not remembering all of them) including an apple/celery drink, squash blossom, ginger carrot multilayer dish served in an egg shell, cherry cream and a sampling of desserts. It was an incredible meal with very attentive staff and a quiet ambiance. As it was a week night, there were not a lot of guests but the service has always been excellent on prior visits too.
An absolutely spectacular meal, with amuse bouches and chef's 'surprises' interspersed throughout a memorable dinner. Fleurie has the feel of an intimate French restaurant, tucked along a quiet street (just like being in the 6th Arrondissement!). Highly recommend
The food at Fleurie is always excellent but last night it was -- amazing. Best / most interesting dinner I've had since eating at Geranium (3 Michelin stars) about 3 years ago. What did I order? I didn't... I just said -- I'll eat whatever Chef Jose de Brito wants to serve. It was a wonderful adventure.
Wow. What a pleasant surprise- surpassed any expectations with one course better than the next. Merci!
Absolutely one of the best if not the best restaurants in Charlottesville. Exceptional food and staff.
Michael, the Sommelier was outstanding, professional yet friendly. The wine pairings were perfect! Had fun trying some not so typical combinations! The canapés were very good, some (like the goat cheese on a piece of beet with small berries was brilliant! Especially with the bit of truffle oil which was a surprise!) The foie gras was perfect as were the scallops, and the cheesecake sorbet! The chocolate truffles were had at the end were delicious! Our server (I think her name was Wesley) was great at explanations and answering questions! The only thing that we weren't absolutely thrilled with was the timing. It just seemed a little rushed as our appetizer came out before we were finished with our canapés (this is the first time this had happened and we have been there several times). We asked for time between our main course and dessert and were given ample time. I don't know if it is just our style of dining but we like to take our time and spend about 2 hours when we go to a fine dining restaurant. This restaurant has Michelin star worthy food and service and we look forward to returning and experiencing new foods and wines! Definitely would recommend for a special occasion!
Fleurie is more of a delicious experience than just a meal. From the setting to the service to the stunning food, everything works together in unison. You will not be disappointed!
Excellent dinner! The chef's specials were unbelievably good and the special dessert was outstanding. Thank you!
This place is a treasure, with food that rivals many Michelin 3 Star restaurants served in a comfortable French bistro setting. We just love it and will dine there whenever in Charlottesville.
We arrived 5 minutes prior to our reservation and were immediately seated. Our server (unfortunately I forgot her name) was so pleasant and attentive. When I made our reservation on OpenTable, I did place a note that my sons were allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. When she first greeted us, she acknowledged this information. That gave us peace of mind that that things would be safe for our boys. Dinner was a very nice pace and not rushed at all. The appetizers, main courses, treats in between, and desserts were all delicious. All the servers were so nice and not pretentious one bit and there was no need to try to speak French! :) It was a wonderful dinner.

Lotta spilled gazpacho on my wife's lap and an awkward handling of it that kinda put off the night, but the food was great.
Fleurie is our go to restaurant for special date nights. Unfortunately, our meals last Saturday were not up to their usual level. The real issue however, is we dropped over $400 for two cocktails and two meals served in a toaster oven. The restaurant was so uncomfortably hot that it was difficult to eat. In fact the table next to us gave up and ended up getting their main and deserts to go. I am not sure if this was an unusual issue or their AC is just not up to par. We may go back because this was so unusual , but will wait till it's cold outside.
Change in wine experience since last dined one year ago. Sommelier did not provide service after glass 1 with wine tasting. Server unfamiliar with varietals and pairing notes.
Amazing meal for our anniversary last night. Incredible interesting flavors and special and. Beautiful presentation. Service perfect while not overbearing
Fabulous food and presentation. An anniversary dinner to remember. Should have a Michelin star. A bit pricey but taxes were $50.
