Very welcoming employees! The baker was very proud of his 2 breads that just came out of the oven. One was jalapeño cheddar! We love jalapeño cheddar bagels and jalapeno poppers, so we bought a loaf. The loaf itself was huge. The presentation was quite pretty with a jalapeño carefully baked on top. And the taste was fabulous. It has a brioche texture and toasted beautifully. we had it with cream cheese or butter- yum.
If you are anywhere near Charlottesville VA, you should stop at the Great Harvest Bread Co. They are so much more than a “bakery”. They actually mill their own flour and wheat on a mill stone (from wheat berries so it’s as fresh as it can possibly be ) so the consumer gets the cleanest and freshest products possible. The coffee is great, you get ice cubes that are made of coffee, that is the good.
I love Boar's Head deli meats so I stopped here and ordered a ham sandwich. While all the ingredients were fresh, there were 2 slices of meat on my sandwich and just so much fluff with everything else. I'm used to a good EastCost sandwich where the meat is at least a good half an inch. I was still hungry after finishing the sandwich.
