A delicious mocha and chocolate croissant served by friendly and courteous team members. There’s ample indoor and outdoor seating. This Grit Coffee location is a shining example for other locations to model.

We stumbled upon Grit a year ago when my husband was looking for a great pour over coffee. The baristas are always super helpful and he loves their single origin pour overs. It’s one of our favorite go to coffee places in Charlottesville.

I love coming here to do work- there is always parking and the atmosphere is conducive to productivity. It's so sunny in here and all the plants have names! The coffee and teas are delicious and high quality.

Grit is my go-to spot for coffee. It disheartens me to see the employees now being required to wear uniforms. I liked the individuality of the employees before, which gave the shop a cozy and welcoming vibe. Now the uniforms just give off an air of consumerism and commercialism, which is the antithesis of a coffee shop. The shop is trying too hard and now is stark. Starbucks doesn’t even require uniforms!!! Please go back to no uniforms (or just request the employees to wear dark tops).

When I had car trouble they allowed me to stay in the restaurant until I was picked up by a friend

$5 hot chocolate that has barely enough chocolate to affect the color. Maybe you’re into steamed milk and this isn’t an issue for you.
The breakfast sandwich was much more enjoyable.

I didn’t quite know what to expect since I had never been here - I was passing through town, and placed a pick up order. I ordered a decaf oat milk mocha and 2 vafels. They put zero chocolate in my drink so it was basically just a plain latte. This was very annoying since the mocha costs more than the latte and I had already left when I realized that it wasn’t a mocha that they made me. Just hoping they at least made it decaf and with oat milk since that costs quite a bit more. For the vafels, I figured they would be small since they were $2 each, but they were just little stroop waffles in packages. They were good, but that was the only vegan option they had for food, which was really disappointing, and it was absolutely not enough for a breakfast. I would give them a second chance for coffee, but probably will never go back due to the lack of vegan food options.
Dietary restrictions: No vegan options for food except a pre-packaged stroop waffle

Ordered a cold brew, but it was just iced coffee. Maybe I ordered it wrong, but odd.
