DiningOut

Ivy Road House closed because of a Covid situation. The only communication about it was a message through Open Table, which no one would check if they had a confirmed reservation. And Open Table continued to show we had a reservation. We met friends from out of town there and were stunned it was closed. We were left scrambling on a busy Saturday night trying to get into a restaurant to get dinner. We enjoyed our visit there before but the lack of outreach to us was inexescusable.

This restaurant does not look like much from the outside-looks like standard slapped-together sheet metal warehouse. Inside, it's a different story. The atmosphere is definitely fine dining, and the food is amazing. The beer that they have on tap is amazing (Chimay!), and the service was top notch. I'll definitely be coming here again.

While not much to look at from the outside, the interior of Ivy Road House is an excellent place to impress your date. It's spacious, quiet, and fancy-in-a-not-intimidating-way. The food is A M A Z I N G.

We are very fortunate to have this great eatery in Crozet. Do Not be fooled by the outside look. Inside is most charming! No other Smashburger can match theirs. Their specialty drink menu is excellent. Owner, Bill, is very attentive to every detail. Best value for food, service and ambience in our area!

Had Jack serving our table - very professional in his presentation and timing, to include drinks. We both had the fish and chips - an excellent choice! Specialty and request cocktails were both outstanding. We will be coming back.

We have been a couple times to Ivy Road House. Generally the service is good and the cocktails are spectacular. However, the food is just not good. There are some good items on the menu. We had the pork lettuce wraps that were spectacular. They were well spiced and we ordered a second serving. However that was the only bright spot we had with our meal. The mushrooms and potatoes flatbread had no flavor and desperately needed salt. The shrimp and sausage gnocchi, which was small for the price, were greasy and mushy. The shrimp had no flavor. The burger we ordered medium rare was overcooked to well done. We could have gotten a better version of the burger and fries at Riverside for a fraction of the price.

It was such a refreshing experience to enter a restaurant being immediately greeted and seated by the hostess. A gracious welcome and conversation with the owner, Bill Mckechnie, made us feel like we were valued as guests of the establishment. Our waitress, DeJa, lent such a positive approach explaining various entrees and beverages while we waited for the rest of our party. DeJa was so accommodating in regard to our orders and specific dietary requests involving vegetarian, non dairy, etc. She handled the orders with a smile and a “can do” attitude including a good knowledge of the menu The service and food presentation was only enhanced by the quality of each dish. All of us enjoyed our meals and just the right amount of “staff attention” without being intrusive of our conversations. A very pleasant surprise in this day and age of staff shortages and attitudes. We look forward to enjoying our dinners there again and will request DeJa as our waitress. Keep that positive young lady in your organization. Good waiters and waitresses are the face of the restaurant business and their approach will make or break a dining experience

This was our first visit. Not too busy for a Saturday evening. Tables were spread out nicely, the space was attractive. The menu is not huge, but there was a good variety of dishes and reasonably priced. The wine list was pricey... they need more selections in the $30-$40 range. Our party ordered salmon, hanger steak, gnocchi with sausage and shrimp, and Caesar salad. The salmon was good, as was the steak. The fries with the steak were too salty. The gnocchi were more like pasta shells with very little substance. The sausage was way too salty... couldn't finish them. The salad was good. Our server provided just the right amount of attention.

The interior is contemporary and relaxing. The food was terrific and the gnocchi I had was delicious. I really like the large open doors at the rear , complete with a screen to let in fresh air and a view of the green field beyond.

A nice, sophisticated restaurant in Crozet! This place has a really nice inside and outside and is perfect to celebrate a special occasion. We came here for graduation this year and really enjoyed it. Got some pasta, a flatbread, and the salmon which were all delicious! In addition, we got some cocktails and they were unique and refreshing for the hot summer! It's easy to make a reservation on open table! The staff was very attentive and kind! Overall, would highly recommend!

Very relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and efficient wait staff. Owner stopped by to chat! My salmon was good perfectly and my friend's hanger steak was also perfectly cooked! Highly recommend as a perfect relaxing place to dine with friends with good food and spirits!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Stumbled on this place after driving 1 1/2 hours on a Saturday evening for what turned out to be a cancelled party (COVID). They were about the only place with reservations available. I'm certain it was only because they are a new establishment. I'm sure we'll have to plan ahead for our next trip to Charlottesville! The food was delicious, beautiful, and creative. It was prepared masterfully and served quite quickly with much attention to detail. Our waitress “Marie” was hands down the best we ever had! She is friendly, fun, and entertaining. She is also the “google” of what their menu has to offer. Chanced upon “Bill” who owns Ivy Road House when he brought our dessert, and he made sure we met “John” the chef. Knew their life histories by the time our meal was over and would love to meet up for coffee to hear more! It felt like meeting up with old friends! Despite all the friendly visits at the table we were in and out in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Overall a delightfully surprising evening and we will definitely drive 1 1/2 hours again to see our new friends. Oh Our tab for cocktail, beer, appetizer, entree, dessert, and coffee was about the same as we spent for a mediocre buffet the week before!

We had a delicious dinner at Ivy Road House on Sunday. The design and decor was impressive; they had obviously spent a lot of time crafting the look, tone and ambiance. The food was amazing and unique. Finally, the staff exceeded our expectations: efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back!!

The Ivy Roadhouse is a great addition to Crozet, where many of the residents travel further into Charlottesville for dinner. The exterior is nondescript, but the interior is warm, divided into semi-private seating areas, and the lighting (which is important o me) is perfect! The menu changes often and offers something for everyone, from small tapas type dishes to entrees, sandwiches and salads.

Treated a friend for her birthday who had not been back since the new menu was introduced. We all have always enjoyed the food and we were not disappointed. I had the salmon (my favorite) and it was perfectly rare as requested, the skin delicious and crispy. The others had salmon and the beef, both said they were very good. No complaints. Will be back!
