Stopped for breakfast at this bakery because of the reviews and enjoyed everything we got! We arrived around 10 on a Friday. There are a few areas for outdoor seating and a small area inside for seating, as such, they were full and there was an hour wait for seating. We had time so we waited and it went much faster than expected. You order at the counter and get a number for your table. It is self-seating and no reservations. There's a separate nearby station which has silverware, condiments, and self-serve water.

We ordered a London Fog, Latte, Almond Croissant, Parfait, Sharondale, and "Madame" (with an egg) Croquet Monsieur.

Will definitely visit again if in Charlottesville!

My favorite bakery! All the pasties are absolutely delicious, but I especially love the pain au chocolat, the chocolate chip cookies, and the flourless chocolate cake (you can tell I love chocolate); but the baguettes and tartes are equally wonderful. The London fogs and decaf lattes are usually very good, too!

Fantastic handmade pastries and breads with a full selection of cafe drinks. Politely located with indoor and outdoor seating. However, the bakery sells out quickly so get there early!

This quaint little spot is the real deal! Their pastries are incredible! High quality and well worth the price. They were packed but the line moved quickly and the service was great! The dining room is quite small and you might find it hard to grab a table. But it's a perfect spot to visit for brunch or a delicious treat 😋

I love the food and the service is typically friendly. Because they are so busy its often hard to find a quieter place to chat.

Such an adorable gem in the heart of Charlottesville! This place was heavily recommended by seemingly every UVA student / alum on earth, so I just had to make a pit stop when I drove through town on my way to a week-long hiking trip. I came by on a late Sunday morning just after 11 AM; their brunch service was in full swing so there wasn't a ton of open seating, and they had already run through most of their most popular selections. However, I managed to snag a gorgeous five-grain batard loaf for a week of sandwiches and, at the barista's recommendation, a peach financier to fuel me through the next leg of my road trip.

The financier was delightful -- slightly crumbly, but also rich and buttery, with a wonderful peachy flavor. It was the perfect late afternoon pick-me-up and a great pair to my almond milk latte. The slightly tart peach was a wonderful way to celebrate the end of summer flavors, and it helped to balance out the sugar in the rest of the pastry.

I didn't enjoy the batard loaf immediately, but it was the perfect hearty, flavorsome bread to build my sandwiches on throughout the week after long days of hiking and climbing. It had a slightly nutty bite from all the seeds, and it kept up surprisingly well throughout the week. I only really noticed it starting to get a smidge stale around day 3 -- if you aren't wandering around the wilderness, I'm sure freezing it would be a great way to preserve its day-one freshness.

Beyond the delightful food, the servers / baristas were all super friendly! They offered a remarkably warm welcome, were super helpful in choosing the best pastries / sandwich loafs, and generally helped to craft a lovely atmosphere. I can't wait to stop by MarieBette again on my next road trip!

Food prepared on the cheap that attempts to have a French flair which it absolutely does not. Food tasted disgusting

I wish I had more photos to post, of the environment and the goings on in this little bakery/Cafe. They served both bakery items and made to order breakfasts. The feeling you have when you walk inside is busy but not insane, a lot going and a lot of food being made and favorite beverages served. If you would like a wonderful morning routine you couldn't do better than stopping at Marie bet Cafe and bakery.

Delicious and nice place. But, you may want to have your phone ready to look up French pastry names. It'd be nice if their placards had the description and pronunciation or on their printed menu.
