We ordered Mala Tantan noodle and Tonkotsu Ramen, both tasted great! Much better than the other place that we tried in C’ville. The chicken karage looks a bit funny as initially we thought it’s more like a popcorn chicken. However, the meat is tender with quite crispy shell. So overall, very nice first time experience

Very nice staff. I ordered their chicken ramen (rice instead of noodles) and miso soup - the rice was a bit drier and was jasmine/non-sticky white rice, typically served in Chinese restaurants; the ramen soup base was pretty good and savory. Chicken could have been more tender. Main gripe though is the miso soup - it was way too salty, I couldn't eat it at all. (And I've enjoyed miso soup many times from various other restaurants, as it's one of my favorite soups.) Overall, it seemed more like a Japanese restaurant with the flavors of American Chinese fast-food cuisine: fine in a pinch, but you're better off elsewhere if seeking authentic Japanese.

First time going here and I was blown away. Sushi was amazing, ramen was amazing. And the portions you get? Large. I was shocked at how big the sushi and ramen was. Food was amazing price is a little up there but we'll worth it. Will be marking this as a favorite place and will be going back.

As a Chinese person from out of town, this place was very inauthentic. The rolls were made with Chinese-style rice, not real sushi rice, and the rolls had way too much rice. The ramen was made with Chinese noodles, not authentic Japanese ramen noodles, and the chasu in the ramen was made with a cheaper cut of pork (definitely not pork belly) and not flavored well. The teriyaki sauce seemed like it was from a bottle, not homemade. If you're looking for good Japanese food, this place is not it.

Really sad, this place used to be really good. I go to Japan a lot and this place used to have the best authentic Japanese ramen outside of Tokyo. This place is now under new management, however, and the food has gone downhill. The charsiu is just tough and bland, the tonkotsu broth is bland, the noodle texture is like it came out of a ramen packet and over cooked. The price makes this place not worth going to anymore. Rest in peace old Mashumen, you will be missed.

We’re from Michigan we were here in town visiting my cousin and her husband, and I have to say this is the best ramen I’ve ever had! I got the mashu ramen and it was a 10/10. Thank you for your excellent service and delicious food! We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town.

Mediocre sushi. Sashimi is served in giant slabs. The dreaded escolar (aka white tuna) is on the menu with no public warning of the gastrointestinal problems it triggers. We didn’t try the ramen and we won’t be back. Why? Because of the $4 fee they added to our bill for paying with a credit card, in addition to their typical service charge.
