The food was okay. That's the best I can say. The service staff doesn't interact with you more than bringing your plate to the table. They merely point-out a QR code for ordering food. Staff makes no/little effort to engage with you. - Don't know if they paid their electric bill, because it felt only a few degrees warmer than the 25-degrees outside. The staff was wearing coats and scarves to stay warm.-- Feels like yet another place that'll fail in under a year.

The food and cocktails at Mejicali are delicious and visually appealing. The service was fast, the atmosphere was great, and when the weather is nice, they even have a fun patio with a playground for kids. I enjoyed the easy way of opening a tab and ordering additional items throughout the evening simply by scanning a QR code at the table. I'll definitely be visiting Mejicali again!

I have eaten at a ton of Mexican, Tex-Mex, Southwest type foods all over the country and most of them in the Southwest. I have had none that would come close to rivaling the unbelievably amazing taste of Mejicali. The flavor and quality of ingredients was absolutely amazing! Great service and and authentic feel to the entire place. If you haven't been it is worth the trip!

I love Charlottesville. But I am often uninspired by the abundance of mediocre food options with few standouts. That’s why I was so pleased to find Mejicali. The owner, John, has a vision and passion for his food. And it comes across on every dish. From the birria served on a skewer and carved onto fresh tortillas to the crispy mayo taco with house made garlic cilantro sauce. Finally cville is giving me some flavor bombs I long for. And frankly undercharging for it (translation great prices). Well worth it. One word - GO!

Went on a Sunday night. The food was really good but the service was lousy. You order using a code on the table and all of our food, there were six of us, came out within a 15 minute interval so some of us finished while some of us were just starting our food. Also we asked for a dairy-free item with sauce on the side due to an allergy and it wasn't done. Lastly had to wait for one of our drinks which never came and a mocktail that really had no flavor at all. It was hard to even get someone to come to the table to ask them questions about the menu. It was unfortunate because the atmosphere is very fun.
China was a very good server and made sure we were doing good at the bar!

An amazing spot just a walk from the corner, absolutely fantastic food and an incredible atmosphere that's obviously been curated by the owner. The only miss was the ordering system, which ditches traditional paper menus in favor of a barcode system that allows you to order on a mobile phone. It wasn't particularly easy to use, leading to some confusion about what exactly we were ordering. I would come back, just after studying the menu website.

Taco Tuesday was a hit with out table. $5 for 2 tacos is a steal. The carna asada and pollo were my favorites. Their drinks were the second favorite thing!
