Michael Shaps Winery đ· always has great wine from Virginia, or his French wines from his wineries in the Burgundy area.
Knowledgeable staff, upscale and unique French and Virginia vintages. A must!
Wonderful afternoon spent on back deck tasting all they had to offer. Everything was great and took a few bottles home.
Grounds and tasting room are French architecture- inspired. High quality wines, service and grounds.
Amazing wine. Best in the area. Has a great selection of his French wines as well.
Absolutely stunning wines served in a very laid back tasting room. Knowledgeable and friendly staff serve up some excellent charcuterie boards in addition to their wines.
We reserved a private tasting room at Michael Shaps Winery to celebrate my sister-in-lawâs birthday, and the entire experience was excellent. The wines were surprisingly goodâwell-crafted and balancedâeven considering the challenges of Virginia terroir. We added charcuterie plates to the tasting, which were beautifully presented and paired nicely with the wines.
The service was exceptional from start to finishâattentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The private room had a comfortable, understated elegance that made the whole afternoon feel special without being stuffy. A great choice for anyone looking to enjoy quality wine in a refined yet relaxed setting.
Award winning wines in a beautiful setting. We sampled the Chardonnay, Meritage and Merlot. Personally I preferred the Merlot over the award winning Meritage but suspect that the latter just need more time in the cellar to reach its full potantial.
The EV chargers were an added bonus. A member of the staff asked if we had successfully charged and commented that he was happy to see a Ford use the charger.
Wonderful experience. Great wines in a smaller venue. Well worth the stop.
Pan and Calvin were so amazing during our Tasting. They were so educated and helpful. Itâs worth a visitâŠ. And the wines are amazing. Do a red tasting!
We had an amazing experience at Michael Shaps Winery. The ambiance, the staff and the wine were absolutely exceptional! After becoming wine club members we found out about Wineworks Extended, a cute and quaint wine bar of Michael Shaps. Finley, who works at the Wineworks location, was super helpful and extremely knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning all about the wine that Michael makes in France and all the upcoming, exciting changes happening. I would highly recommend either location! We will definitely be back again!

The woman in the tasting room was extraordinarily nice and the wines were delicious
Michael Shaps Winery is a fantastic venue for wedding photography. Its intimate, rustic charm and beautiful vineyard views create a warm and inviting setting for capturing special moments. The variety of spacesâwhether among the vines, by the winery, or under the open skiesâgives me so many creative backdrops to work with.
The team at Michael Shaps is wonderful, attentive, and accommodating, ensuring the day flows seamlessly and allowing everyone to fully enjoy the experience. For couples seeking a cozy, picturesque venue with a relaxed elegance, Michael Shaps Winery is a perfect choice. Highly recommended!

We only had time for one glass of wine on their lovely deck before they closed. Wish weâd gotten there a little earlier, but weâll visit again when weâre in the area.
Wine is good but the personnel are so rude. We literally walked out without drinking anything this time. Oh also should add they were dog UNfirendly unlike all the other wineries around here seem to be. Miss the old thatch before this jerk took over.
Loved the wine, the vineyard ambiance and the employees. Superior experience.
