I was only in town 2 weeks. I hate that I waited until the day I had to leave to try this place. The beef Pho and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend!

A Hidden GEM!!!!
What really sets this restaurant apart is the attention to detail. Every dish is beautifully presented, and you can taste the love and care in every bite. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and happy to explain menu items or offer recommendations.
If you're craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine made with fresh ingredients and served with heart, look no further. This place is a must-visit, and I’ll definitely be back!
The vermicelli bowl was delicious! I thought I would have some to take home but ended up eating it all as it was so tasty. Definitely recommend.

Gotta be one of the worst places for pho. $18 is robbery for what you get. Small town pho shops have always been poor.

Fantastic spot for delicious food and one of the only places around with many vegan and vegetarian options.

Great banh mi sandwiches with just enough spice. My go to spot for pho in town, although still not as good as pho places in richmond or northern virginia. decent spring rolls also. it is a small dine in location, with small children, easier to order takeout. is expensive but consistent with food prices in charlottesville

Wow - so delicious and fresh! We had the chicken pho, shrimp wrappers and chicken wrappers and loved every bite!!!! The staff was super friendly too. Can’t wait to have this again!
Every visit at Nguyen's is joyful. I usually go for their delicious pho or dumplings, but just had the roasted pork and scallion buns for the first time and it was perfect! Such lovely people too. Highly recommended.

My family and I have been coming here for a little while and have enjoyed the mother/ daughter duo that runs this shop. I have to have ACL surgery and her Pho broth is the only thing I can keep down due to my medications. I love that her food doesn't taste plastic or highly processed. Everything is fresh to order and handmade. Sometimes the other asian patrons give us dirty looks because we are a mixed race couple, but the staff and family are always welcoming us with a big smile and are always willing to strike up a conversation. We love coming here and I hope they can expand and grow because they are deserving, hardworking and make a great atmosphere.

I’m from northern Virginia, known for having great Bahn Mi sandwiches. Recently moved to Charlottesville and was looking for a bahn mi spot, and thankfully I found one! The chicken is so well seasoned, other ingredients super fresh. Been here twice already. So far the best bahn mi in the area!

Nguyen’s Kitchen reminds me of when my friend’s Vietnamese mom used to cook for me—comforting, authentic, and made with love. The pho is rich, flavorful, and clearly homemade, with that perfect balance of savory broth and tender meat. The grilled pork chop rice platter is another standout—beautifully seasoned, juicy, and satisfying. And don’t skip the Vietnamese sandwich—crispy bread, fresh veggies, and perfectly marinated meat. This place is a hidden gem that feels like home.

It's a nice, casual environment in the restaurant. They don't have a lot of tables but I'm assuming it's because it's mostly for takeout? The employees are friendly. However, unfortunately the food was really bad. We ordered bun bo hue, kimchi, rice and shredded beef and veggie egg rolls. The bun bo hue broth tasted extremely bland and didn't have much flavor, wasn't spicy either. The broth was almost a clear color (good bun bo hue I've had has a dark+red hue to it). The eggrolls tasted like the ones at Panda Express, basically okay but not great. The kimchi was good and the rice with beef was better, though. Overall a disappointing experience unfortunately.
