Wonderful food in a lovely environment- beautiful fireplace and bar in a cozy setting. The service was top notch and the quality of food was fitting to the price. I really enjoyed my cocktail made complimentary by our server - so sweet! Will definitely return.

My husband & I enjoyed the most lovely meal overlooking the lake outside. The weather was perfect, and the location so peaceful! Because my husband & I were traveling, and didn't want leftovers, we split the Farro Island Salmon entree. It was absolutely delicious and so was the fig bread & Beet-onion bread brought out before our meal arrived. The surroundings certainly added to the flavor of our meals & we will certainly be back if ever in the area again.

I've given The Mill Room at Boar’s Head two opportunities to impress me—and both times it fell short. I’m accustomed to dining in 4- and 5-star restaurants where high standards are not optional but expected. Based strictly on the food experience, I would rate this restaurant no higher than 3 stars.
My first visit was in October, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., a weekday dinner with a friend I wanted to impress. We waited over an hour for our food with little and unconvincing explanation. The restaurant was not full at all. When the food finally arrived, the meat was notably dry and the overall dish forgettable—so much so that I can’t recall what we ordered, only that it was extremely underwhelming. The service didn’t help: the waitstaff lacked polish, barely projected their voices, and instead of elevating the experience, their presence felt intrusive and unrefined.
I returned for a second try on May 25th, 2025, with a different friend. This time, service was prompt, but the same issues persisted. Many of the servers and helpers mumbled, lacked basic etiquette, and didn’t seem trained to deliver a quality dining experience. No managers were visible, and the atmosphere felt uncoordinated. We ordered a meat dish with carrots and mashed potatoes. The meat was cooked as requested (medium rare) and tasted fine, but the sides were disappointing—the carrots were bland and visually completely unappealing, and the mashed potatoes portion was meager.
As for the venison carpaccio we ordered as appetizer—when I couldn’t find it on the plate, I asked the waiter if there’d been a mistake. I was told, no, that was the carpaccio. It wasn’t. I’m familiar with the real thing, and there was no venison in sight—just fennel and cherries trying to pass as something they weren’t. I actually laughed at the cheek of calling that dish “carpaccio.
Overall, the food and service at The Mill Room simply don't match the expectations set by the price point or the venue’s reputation. It was barely acceptable on both occasions. I cannot recommend dining here—especially not if you're expecting a refined culinary experience.
Came here for happy hour with the family. The food was great. We had the tacos, burger, pretzel and wings and we enjoyed all of it. We met the owner who was really friendly and Parker our waiter was awesome. We’ll be back!
The thing I liked about The Mill Room at the Boar’s Head Resort was how they added their flair to their food and drinks. Classy. Stylish. Good for special events and special occasions. I’ll be back!
Excellent service for our large group tonight (12) by Nancy. Food was very good and tasty. Need more than two scallops on the appetizer. Salads (I didn't eat one but other guests did) looked wonderful, especially the apricot feta one. Steaks were all good as was the salmon. The fried oysters were wonderful. Chocolate cake looked incredibly chocolate but needs to taste chocolate (surprisingly just sugary). Excellent fig rolls and beet rolls. Again, wonderful service.
The food was unreal. I mean, it was just *perfect*. Everything was fresh, bursting with flavor, and cooked to absolute perfection. The menu itself was super creative, and they have options for everyone.
The staff were so friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. They were always around when we needed something, but never intrusive. They even gave us some great recommendations, and they were spot on! Seriously, the service was top-notch.
And the ambiance? Chill, cozy, and just the right amount of lively. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner with friends. The music was great, not too loud, and the whole vibe was just super welcoming. We felt completely comfortable and relaxed the entire time. Honestly, I could have stayed there all night!
This place is a must-try. Seriously, don't miss out. It's the perfect combination of delicious food, fantastic service, and a great atmosphere.
The continental breakfast buffet is $20 and it was absolutely worth every penny. They have so many nice things. Much nicer than any other continental breakfast buffet
Erik was the waiter who took care of us. He was superb. Plus the setting is dramatically beautiful. What a great place to have morning breakfast buffet at this resort.

One star for food (dinner on two separate occasions, autumn 2024), and an extra star because it is still a nice place to spend time and the service was good. Sadly however, I cannot in good conscience recommend having dinner here until food preparation changes drastically. .

Phillip, the bartender, is amazing. One of the main reasons my husband and I frequent this place a couple of times a week!
