We wanted to enjoy a special dinner at The Mill Room after hearing great things, but our experience ended up being pretty disappointing due to the service. We were seated right away, but no one came to greet us or take our order for about 30 minutes. After finally ordering cocktails, it took another 20 minutes to receive them — during which three tables seated after us were served drinks and bread before we were. We ordered the butternut squash soup (which arrived lukewarm), the ribeye, and the black truffle cavatelli. The entrées were good, but again our table was overlooked when it came to clearing plates and offering dessert. Two tables seated after us received dessert menus and desserts before we were approached. At that point, we just asked for the check. What was most frustrating was that all of these tables had the same server we did. It never feels good to feel ignored, especially when you’re looking forward to a nice night out. Unfortunately, despite the food being enjoyable, the service experience really detracted from the evening.

We waited more than 30 mins for our reserved table to be seated. It took over an hour for our entrees to arrive. They were quick about more wine, of course.
No one thought their food was good, most thought portions were small. Definitely not worth the price, others around us also complained about the menu.

I went in for a coffee and ended up staying for the weekend brunch. There were so many options to choose from all visually stunning. I ended up with lox and bagels, french toast bread pudding and fresh fruit. The picture is of a takeaway spinach salad that was amazing.

We came to the Mill Room for Thanksgiving dinner, which we've done in prior years. Rather than the old buffet (not sure how long that's been gone), the Mill Room offered a limited item menu. Our server was very clear, affable, and generally helpful.
However, our entrees took nearly an hour to arrive and were underwhelming when they did. The server let us know that the kitchen had lost our order, but on a menu with only four entrees, they weren't cooking each item to order, so that didn't hold a lot of water. We observed other patrons complaining to managers about the pace of service, so we weren't the only ones. Even if the food hadn't been slow, the relationship between food quality and value was off.
Unexpected things happen the restaurant business but the mangers should have been walking around, taking accountability, and comping some drinks if needed.

My wife took me out for a couples romantic dinner. Reservation at 7pm which we were on time for. 1 hour 45 minutes after being seated we got our food. I had to send my 20 dollar salad back because it was rotten and they covered it in dressing to hide it. Not a little brown but the stock of the lettuce was turning brown blackish. My wifes steak was cold, my 48 dollar elk was room temp at best. Douglas was the 1 star, without him it would be zero stars. He tried his best to cover for the terrible service and rotten food and tried to cover for the lukewarm elk and cold steak but no amount of discounting could hide the travesty this resturant did to my wife. By the end I had to leave the resturant to pick up our kid, come back and theres my wife in tears with her entire romantic dinner in shambles.
As usual, excellent cuisine, atmosphere and service.

Wonderful food in a lovely environment- beautiful fireplace and bar in a cozy setting. The service was top notch and the quality of food was fitting to the price. I really enjoyed my cocktail made complimentary by our server - so sweet! Will definitely return.

My husband & I enjoyed the most lovely meal overlooking the lake outside. The weather was perfect, and the location so peaceful! Because my husband & I were traveling, and didn't want leftovers, we split the Farro Island Salmon entree. It was absolutely delicious and so was the fig bread & Beet-onion bread brought out before our meal arrived. The surroundings certainly added to the flavor of our meals & we will certainly be back if ever in the area again.
