The old grey mare she ain't what she used to be. This stately old restaurant was once one of the go-to places for a beautiful meal in Charlottesville. Gone now are the crisp white tablecloths, the impeccably set table, the knowledgeable waiters, well dressed with their sterling table crumbers, removing any errant crumb between courses. They have a decent wine list, albeit the markups appear over industry average. The menu was nice but had items that were out of season. Figs that were not quite ripe in the salads are an example. Ocra that was slightly hard accompanied the snapper. The Snapper was plated nicely but lacked adequate salt or seasoning. Desert was a disappointment. The cobbler consisted of canned preserves with oatmeal on top which was barely warm. The restaurant was not full, but our server was not as attentive as in days past where you would be checked on, offered additional wine, water glasses topped. For the price point, the Old Mill Room has lost its place among the storied fine restaurants of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

this is one of my husband and my favorite places. I miss the brunch they used to have before covid.

Bar review only. Friendly bartenders, good cocktails. A nice watering hole in an otherwise dry area near Ivy with few other options. The lobster roll was a bit of a joke though. $28 for a tiny lobster roll, half the size of what Public offers. Skip it. The fried oysters, on the other hand, were quite tasty.

My kids and I had breakfast here and it was delicious! The hot cocoa was creamy and delicious and the Belgian waffle was perfection. We didn’t have lunch or dinner here, so I can’t speak to that, but I highly recommend the breakfast, which was also very reasonably priced for a resort.Kid-friendliness: They were very kind to my children, offering kid safe cups with lids, extra napkins, and spacious seating .

The food is very good and the folks are nice. Yhe decor is about what you expect for a moderstely priced place. All in all a good experience for a neighborhood place.Vegetarian options: The Magarita pizza is good. So is the eggplant.

Fantastic meal at the Mill Room last night. We had the pan seared scallops, salmon and aged NY strip, they were all excellent. Coocktails at the bar were also well made and tasty. Great service by our waiter Erick.

Had dinner there a couple weeks ago. Great food, fabulous service and pretty impressive wine list. May well be one of the best NY strips I’ve ever had. Highly recommend treating yourself!!!

We’ve been here several times, always for special occasions. They are very generous and have always offered a free dessert or champagne when we’re celebrating something. We most recently went for dinner after our wedding and it was great. The steak is always delicious and cooked perfectly. If our bill wasn’t over $200 every time we went, we would go more often! Definitely one of Charlottesville’s more fancy restaurants.Kid-friendliness: This is not a place that I would take kids although we have seen some families with older children that have very good table manners.

Very pretty , service was friendly but they got our order wrong and never checked on us . Food was 1 star out of 5 !! They hyped up the chef and the food and it was a great disappointment . Prices super high , definitely will never go back . Sad part is they probably think they are great , and don’t want to hear anything bad !! NO

We had a great night celebrating our anniversary. The entire experience was seamless. Open table found same day on Resy. Staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. Guest chef Rupert’s menu was excellent. We started with the Scallops w/greens and mushroom cream sauce. Scallops were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. Both salad options were generously portioned and tasteful. Also enjoyed a NY strip and the creamed smashed potatoes. Erik brought a table side smoked old fashioned that was quite an experience. Everyone we talked to was a joy to be around. The copper bar is exquisite!

Genuinely one of the worst dining experiences. We had a 6:30 reservation. Didn’t even order until 8.
