We love Peter Chang China Grill! Now we are extremely disappointed to hear they are closing down the Barracks Road location. Please reopen somewhere else in Charlottesville.

One of the great place to visit and eat in charlottesville va. It just sad to see the city government doesn’t have any plan to save struggling small businesses in the city, and this iconic place is about to shut down.

The reviews say it all.
This place isn't what it used to be.
Food aweful and people of color were definitely treated differently here.
Two reasons for closing!

Great service. Food came out fast and was so tasty. They gave us extra rice to take home. Will definitely come back soon
The worst hunan chicken I have ever had. Basically chicken , onions and grease
First and last time coming here. No AC, no music to cover the awkward silence, everything in the place had a sticky film to it (tables, chairs, etc). The food was difficult to enjoy in the atmosphere and dishes were way too spicy to enjoy.
Food is legitimately so good and the restaurant is beautiful. I like it very much.
Peter Chang China Grill is a gem for anyone craving bold, flavorful Chinese food—whether you're a fan of Chinese-American classics or longing for something more traditional. The food is absolutely delicious, and the staff is warm, welcoming, and always eager to help with recommendations.
My personal favorite is the double cooked pork belly with steamed white rice. The pork is rich and tender with just the right amount of crispy edges, perfectly balanced by the spicy sauce that brings the whole dish to life. Honestly, their pork dishes in general are next-level. The spice is real, but it never overwhelms—just enhances.
Whether you’re someone who enjoys Americanized Chinese staples or you're an international student missing the tastes of home, Peter Chang’s has something for you. It’s comforting, satisfying, and full of flavor. Highly recommend.

Use to be so much better. They changed the mushrooms in the dry fried mushrooms. Dan Dan noodle complete different. Cilantro fish rolls were the same as well as bamboo fish. Still was meh.

Looks like an old restaurant inside, not too much taken care. Food and dishes are very regular.

Unusual, not the typical fare one expects- no Mu Schu pork, lots of spicy dishes, some numbing chemistry involved! Sizzling dishes served at table by staff that have been working hard all day, possibly somewhere else.
Excellent and affordable food. A great recommendation by an acquaintance who frequently visit their child studying at UVA. Portions were sufficient that we could make a light dinner with the doggie bags. Parking was plentiful.
Tea was too weak, but tea pot was great, plenty hot. Chairs were hard, but food was tasty.
It's kind of your average Chinese restaurant. The sauce on the Golden Mountain chicken was interesting with a cinnamon spice to it. I think it was supposed to be crispy chicken, but it wasn't, it seemed just cooked. The Bang Bang shrimp had good pieces of shrimp, but there was no spice at all. It was a good sized portion, though. The spring rolls were so tiny, I've never seen any so small, but they were nicely fried. We picked up our food, so I'm not sure what the atmosphere is like when you dine there, but the service for pick-up was fine.
