Roots Natural Kitchen

We had the El Jefe and the Lil Bob Cobb. Both were excellent. They were very fresh and flavorful. The portions were big and filling and we couldn't finish them. We highly recommend this place and will be back to try another tasty creation.

My co-workers and I ordered from Roots Natural Kitchen through door dash today for lunch and it is absolutely AMAZING! All of us have found a new spot to order from/eat at! I got the Rissa Bowl and it was SOOO yummy! The ingredients combined so well together & you could tell how fresh everything was! I will definitely be ordering again!

Your policy of not allowing kids meals unless the kid is present is absolutely absurd. My wife works right in the same shopping center and she was trying to pick up dinner for the family and Jesse, the manager refused to do a kids bowl for my 10 year-old. What is my wife supposed to do drive all the way home pick up the kid drive them back to stick them in front of the counter then drive back home??? It was obvious that she works right by the store because her shirt has the office name and logo on it. Stop making your employees act like robots instead of people. We will probably not eat there again.

Highly suggest roots for getting healthy bowls with quality ingredients. They have a customizable bowls where we can select, salad, veggies, protien and sauce.

I absolutely love Roots - get the El Jefe but anything you try or create on your own is so delicious! The flavors and combination of ingredients are so unique and delicious!! Everyone working there is so kind and FAST!! Find myself going back all the time bc I trust I’ll love my food and have a good experience!

I first tried Roots Natural Kitchen in Richmond and I was delighted to discover that there was one in Charlottesville. It was exactly what I wanted and expected. Looking forward to going back. Here’s what I ordered.

* if you know you will have leftovers, it may be best to get it on the side so the bowl isn’t too soggy the next day. I learned this the hard way 😞

I’m in Charlottesville for a wedding and a group of us stopped at Roots for salads for lunch. We walked to our hotel and began eating when, not 15 minutes in, I bite down on something hard. It was a broken piece of metal. I then sifted through the salad and found a SECOND identical piece of metal. I walked back to the restaurant and alerted the manager and staff. They looked at me puzzled but were not in any way apologetic. I said I don’t want to make a scene but this just happened. They said “we don’t even have utensils like that.” Well news flash, you do and one is broken because the pieces were in my salad. I’m not a litigious person but I went to law school, therefore I am very familiar with lawsuits of this nature. The manager gave me a refund for mine and my Aunt’s salads, but the lack of care is what bothered me the most especially since the staff began making the next meal for the next customer without doing a thorough inspection of their utensils or ingredients. Accidents happen but they can also result in severe injury. I’m lucky I was not severely harmed by this incident but this restaurant must do better.

Such a delicious lunch here today! I had the create your own and loved it. The staff were super helpful and upbeat. Definitely plan to visit again!

Recommend El Jefe

Food is great and I love it here I would just appreciate it if they updated their hours. Saying they close at 9:30 and I walk in 15 minutes before close and they tell me they won’t serve me.
