I knew about Sal's and suggested my friends that we go. They're all def sold on it. Great food. Our server picked out the Long Island native right away when they spoke. We'll all be back.

First time in Charlottesville area. Someone recommended Sal’s. Had the opportunity to sit outside because it was the perfect afternoon/evening. The plaza was busy with shoppers and diners. We could hear music from down the street which added to the atmosphere. I had manicotti, my husband had eggplant parm. The people we dined with had chicken parm and pizza. The food was good. The red sauce is very important to us and it was mediocre(like Ragu out of the jar). The portion of spaghetti was unusually large and unfortunately, left almost untouched by my husband and the other guest that was with us.
The bread was very good. Only one of us had a soda and no other drinks besides water.
Possibly if we had chosen other items, we would be raving. The pizza looked good, but again, if they used the same sauce it would not have been to my taste.
Service was mediocre. She acted rushed and like she couldn’t be bothered with a small party. For the price, I expected a little more!
Clean place, nice outside seating!

My husband & I went to Sal’s with our little ones after visiting the Discovery Museum. Our waiter was nice, very accommodating. I chose a pasta dish with their “pink lady” sauce after the waiter recommended it. Both of our pasta dishes were very bland, barely any flavor at all. We tried everything, salt and pepper, Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes. Nothing made them taste better. The chicken in the pasta looked like chicken from a frozen dinner. You could tell that it wasn’t fresh chicken. Our kids got the cheese pizza, which they enjoyed. We paid $20 just for our soft drinks and our bill was over $100 for two pasta dishes that were horrible and a decent pizza. We wanted to give this place a try but we will continue going to Vivace for Italian. Even Olive Garden is better than Sal’s. Don’t waste your money.

My daughter and I call Sal’s our favorite date spot — and it never fails to impress.
There’s something special about this place. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is consistently on point. Every visit feels like a treat.
We go all out with raviolisand dessert, Sal’s never disappoints. It’s become a tradition for us, and we always leave full and happy.
Highly recommend for a casual night out or a meaningful meal with someone you love.

We lived in Italy for three years, and Sal’s in Charlottesville brought back all the right memories, everything from the pasta to the wine tasted just like the dishes I used to order over there. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was warm and attentive, and the wine selection hit the mark. For anyone passing through Charlottesville, I’d absolutely recommend stopping by, Sal’s delivers an authentic, satisfying Italian dining experience right in the heart of downtown.

This place was very nice in the Charlottesville downtown mall. We sat outside as the sun went down and it wasn’t too hot even in July. We got the garlic bread and house salad for appetizers and both were delicious. The pepperoni pizza was also quite good though I will likely try something else if I go back.
