Selvedge Brewing

This is the second time we’ve stopped into Selvedge from out of town to meet with some local friends. Love the ambiance and the beverage selections. It has a relaxed atmosphere, and the noise level is tame so I can actually hear our conversation! Destiny was our server, and she was great—attentive and courteous. The food is 3-4 stars (the nacho fries could be better if there was more of the toppings on the fries). We’ll return to Selvedge because we enjoy hanging out here and enjoy the drinks.

We had the nicest evening at Selvedge. Seating was our server. She was terrific and did a great job dealing with our big group. The food was delicious! Beer was excellent. I would recommend Selvedge!!!

Came back in for my second visit. Sorry to say, it was a far cry from my first visit. Kids were running and screaming in the area my group sat last time, so I decided to sit at the bar. That’s when I saw them, roaches! Roaches crawling on the bar and out from around their cash register. From what I gather this place hasn’t been open very long either. They must not clean well.

Great brewery. The staff is friendly and engaging. They have a wonderful selection of beers and their bar staff (shoutout to Tatum) are exceptionally knowledgeable about their brews. Just a nice experience all around. Try the chicken sandwich.

Food wasn’t great. Got the “Philly Wrap” and it was not what I expected or wanted. Just some steak-ums with very little cheese, and some really bad peppers. Weirdest part was it was mostly kale salad in the wrap. There should not be any kale. And the meat and peppers should be chopped up and mixed together.

Aside from not liking the food, service was inattentive and subpar. Our server didn’t look like they wanted to be there and couldn’t tell us much about the beer other than the obvious.

Wish I could say better about Selvedge. I had high hopes. But it didn’t live up to my expectations of Virginia, or even Charlottesville breweries. In fact, I left with a bad taste in my mouth tonight. I did some research into the company and it turns out they are conglomerate that runs not just a brewery but multiple coffee companies, and a few other restaurants. ( Grit, Snowing In Space, Broadcloth) They were also involved with the Champion Food Group for a while. That turned out to be a bad company.

Seems like the bad management transferred over despite any “separation”

I went to Selvedge last week and it was fabulous from beginning to end! Casey runs a n excellent establishment with great food, great drinks and great service! He took our order and we were also tended to by Andrew, who was kind and attentive, but non-intrusive as we chatted at our table. And Kendall, behind the bar, was so personable and gave great service by helping us decide which beer we might like. The smash burger and fries were so yummy! Can’t wait to go back!
