Everything was wonderful! We'll definitely come back next time we're in the area.
As always Chef Laura Fonner did not disappoint! Years ago we dined with her at Duners restaurant for my birthday dinner and it completely blew me away. This year I chose to dine with her again for my birthday and it was nothing short of spectacular! The intricate details down to the complexity of each dish, she knocks it out of the park. As always, we will be back!
We ate Friday night at the Siren in Charlottesville, Virginia. It was delightful. It cuisine is American - Mediterranean with the focus on seafood. We started with the pita bread drizzled with olive oil and a balsamic glaze, served with zaatar labneh and chimichurri. It was very tasty. We also shared the golden beets with goat cheese mousse, almonds, herbs, sumac vinaigrette. They were very very good. Then we finished with the Shawarma spiced grilled chicken, linguini pasta with spinach, tomato, and feta, peri peri cream sauce. It was delicious. Highly recommend the Siren in Charlottesville, VA.
I have had dinner twice at Siren. The first time was overall excellent. The food was delicious, and the service was great. The second dinner was not as good. The server was inattentive. He did not introduce himself and never came to ask how things were and if we needed anything (I had to flag him down whenever we needed something). The food was not as good as the first time. The eggplant in the moussaka was undercooked, and the flavor was lacking. I might give the restaurant one more chance, but cannot unconditionally recommend it for now.
This is a very honest review and I hope the owners read it, because this place has a ton of potential. Let me start by saying that the food was absolutely excellent and I have nothing but praise for the chef! The food redeemed the initial impression of the place. It might have just been a onetime thing, but the music choice was very awkward: country/classic rock did not set the vibe for Mediterranean food. I feel like a little more attention to detail will make this place a very hot spot: adequate music, more holiday vibes (it was Valentine's weekend but you wouldn't know), better dressed wait staff (maybe some type of uniforms). Overall, I did enjoy it, but at first I was not sure I would.
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU BEEN ON TV? Celebrity chef superstar Laura Fonner has been close to a million times. This place is awesome! We had dinner during the soft opening and it was executed flawlessly. The pork belly and tuna tar tar apps were both the best I have had in their respective categories. The kabucha squash in the pork belly app was a beautiful texture and the Aleppo glaze was serious business. The crab cake entree was amazing as well as the Fennel salad on top. The sear on the salmon was on point and restored my faith that salmon can be good. The cauliflower puree with the salmon was the real winner until we got dessert. The genois cake was fantastic but the cantaloupe Greek yogurt dish was insane! Get yourself a reservation and get in here. This place is gonna be busy as hell.
I consider myself a good cook and can get disappointed when I eat out, but this was not the case at Siren! OMGGGGGG!!!! Everything we ate was superb! THE BEST fried oysters we ever had…extra crunchy on the outside and hot ‘n juicy on the inside with a big burst of flavor when you bite into it! Beet Salad, Tuna Tartar appetizers, Eggplant Moussaka (pictured) main course followed by mixed berry cobbler (pictured)….yum yum yummy!!! Highest compliments to the chef, she is on point! Well done for the first year of business! The staff was also great!!! Attentive, knowledgeable, friendly…5 star dining without the $$$$$. Highly recommend!!!
The food is wonderful! The chef really loves what she is doing and you can tell from the dishes served. We are still taking precautions and the spaced out veranda was a great option for eating in
Absolutely incredible food. The chefs were able to take a simple dish, such as pita bread, and elevate it to an incredibly flavorful and delicious meal. I got the moussaka (which was very similar to what my Greek Papou made!) and it was incredible. My friends got other incredible meals. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The wait staff was attentive, polite, and even poked fun at our group (which we loved!). Highly recommend this for a nicer date / celebration night!
Parking: Parking right in front.
Dietary restrictions: One of the first things the waiter ever did waes ask us what dietary restrictions we have. Great job!
I’m a native New Yorker visiting Charlottesville and I loved everything about this meal. I’m a foodie and very hard to please. The food was fresh and innovative. The menu is well curated and mind blowing. Do not judge this place by it’s location because it would be a miss. 10/10, highly recommend!

Siren is a welcome addition to the CVille restaurant scene. The scallops are phenomenal and the Tuna Tartare is some of the best my wife and I have had anywhere! No disrespect to Public Fish and Oyster, but it's nice to have a Siren in town! The staff is wonderful! The only downside is the utensils. The food is so good, please get flatware that compliments the food! Regardless, we will be back!
This was unexpectedly excellent. Everything everyone ordered was well received. The only negative was under “shareable” items they listed bread $6.00 a person.
Such a welcoming place with amazing food. We had fried oysters for a starter and our party had salmon, crab cakes, and swordfish skewers for the main courses. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
Excellent food! This is a keeper! Menu is heavy on seafood but all selections seemed to work this night. Had a business dinner and tried Siren. It was a great choice. Everyone loved the food. Appetizers of calamari and grilled peppers went fast. Everyone had different entre and all loved the choice. I had the crab cakes which were excellent. Full bar and very good service. I am sure this one will move up in the CVille rankings.
The cosmo had the perfect kick and the Grilled Shawarma Chicken Penne was well seasoned, with perfect amount of sauce! Nice ambiance and friendly staffs!
