This is my first time ever ordering from The Pie Chest and lemme just say it’s literally the BEST pie I’ve ever had!! (The cinnamon apple crump pie)

Insanely good savory pies for breakfast lunch or dinner with amazing sweet pies for dessert! highly recommend their either their summer veggie or chicken bacon and roasted garlic pie with a slice of their pecan pie but don't forget the homemade bourbon vanilla ice cream! In these dark times I can't think of anything better than pie to keep our spirits up and keep us moving forward! I live like 35min away and every time I find myself in the area, you know I stock up! ????

Was in town for treatment at UVA and in the mood for something comforting. I came in with my young daughter and they were very patient. We got our order to go and sampled everything with my husband. The goat cheese honey and sausage hand pie was amazing. Unique flavor combo and it really works. The chicken adobo hand pie was also well seasoned. The crust was the star of the show- perfectly flaky and tender. We also tried the hazelnut pie, smore pie, and apple pie. The crumble topping on the apple pie with the traditional crust on bottom was like having both cobbler and pie at once. The apples were the perfect texture with a spice combo that will take you right back to grandmas kitchen. I loved the hazelnut pie- so light and fluffy with a crunch of hazelnuts on top. We enjoyed the smore pie but that was a no go for the toddler since it was dark chocolate. I think we all would’ve enjoyed milk chocolate more. The hot chocolate was fantastic and just what we needed to warm up. Now I have something to look forward to at my next appointment since I know we’ll be stopping here again.

I really enjoy the convenience of the Pie Chest from off the rivanna trail/river view park trail. Great selections of pie , friendly staff & they make their own coffee "flavoring/syrups".

Awesome cup of coffee!

It may be a chest of pies but it's really all about those turnovers

I love pie and it's great that there's now an outpost to the Pie Chest that's closer to home. However, it's definitely not as nice a location as their place off the downtown mall (limited bar seating and tables in the back) and they also don't have as wide a selection (hence knocking this down to 4 stars). They DO still make their food on premise and it's delicious! Coffee is also still terrific and the staff is terrific! Good place to pick up to go!

Coffee and espresso are best in town. In addition to sweet and savory pies, this location has breakfast egg and cheese biscuits after 8am, so good.

We live in Harrisonburg but stop by the Pie Chest every time we go to Charlottesville. It is a MUST. They have THE best pies around. So fresh, with local ingredients - every one we've tried (and that has been many) has been absolutely decadent. The baker's love clearly shows in every aspect of this business. From the food, to the staff who provide the best (GENUINE) customer service around, to the decor, to the reasonable prices and pairings with the local coffees, etc. GO THERE. You will not regret it.

Best hand pies I've ever tried. They have a rotating special in addition to their signature egg, sausage, goat cheese, and honey. Pie selection is thoughtful and they're generous in size. Coffee is fresh, nuanced. Support this local gem!

Such a cute, quaint coffee and pie shop! Service was really nice, my first time here and those who were up front were patient and suggested some great options! I got an iced coffee with a sausage, goat cheese and honey hand pie (which is EXTREMELY delicious by the way!!). I live right down the street in walking distance and I am so happy there is a coffee shop so convenient!

I love the Pie Chest, and I'm not sure if it's fair to compare this one to the Downtown Mall location since this location is a smaller and newer establishment. I came in here looking to have something savory for lunch, and they only had some breakfast options that would fit under that category. I ordered a pie that had potatoes amongst other things and a breakfast biscuit sandwich. Everything tasted great, but not having the other options that are normally available in the Downtown Mall location was somewhat disappointing. The ambience could use a bit of work, and there's not much seating. But that might not bother you too much if you're just going to grab and go.
