We have been here many times, and we have had a pleasurable experience. Up until today. they have been OK. But they are apparently getting a lot of orders that don’t come in to pick them up, and they did not fire my order until I got there. I had to wait half an hour for food that was ordered 35 minutes prior to. I just can’t with any good conscience recommend this place anymore. If they are afraid of people abandoning an order then they should just require payment upfront online. I don’t have time to come

Nice little spot. Being from DC, it's Chinese carryout on every corner, some good, some bad. This one was great if I'm ever riding through Charlottesville again, I will definitely stop.

They have good customer service. We've been eating at Red Lantern for years and the presentation, taste and quaility of the food is appetizing. I recommend this restaurant.
I was in the area and stopped in for lunch. Red Lantern is really a take out place, but you can order, sit down, and someone will bring you the food in a takeout container. It's probably not a place you'd take someone on a first date unless you wanted that date to end immediately. It's hard to evaluate the food because eating out of a cardboard clamshell box is not what a associate with a restaurant. There certainly was a large enough portion, but, call me spoiled, I'd rather have a better dine in experience. There was something I really like about Red Lantern: somebody's kid was sitting at one of the booths busy entertaining himself; the folks were friendly enough; I got the sense that this is a real local gem of a spot. Thanks for adding to the community.

I wasn't going to leave a review until i realized they only gave us two fortune cookies instead of the usual four. They must have switched up management because all of the food was NOT as good as usual. It wasn't terribke but it has changed for the worse. If you're gonna switch up, dont skimp out.

My family has been getting food here for years, it's our go to spot. I'm seriously surprised it has as many low ratings as it does, everything has always been really good! I really like their cheese wontons, lo mein, and general tsos tofu. We always do takeout, and it's always been good! Solid portions too!

I ordered lunch today for delivery and it was horrible honestly. I had the general tso chicken lunch special. The chicken was very dried out and hard for the most part. Delivery took an hour!

I got food poison from my last meal here. I've ordered from Red Lantern alot until my last order where it gave me food poison. Never will I order from there again. If I survive this
Unless something is wrong then they want to argue with you like you did something wrong easy to have good customer service when everything is ok, I usually order there every other night sometimes back to back nights so much so they know my order without looking it up but last night the beef smelled rancy and I called in and the lady who assume is the owner but I'm not sure said that the beef and broccoli was fine she had eaten it earlier and it was the same beef and broccoli all day, that I could bring it back after I just ordered delivery but couldn't get beef and broccoli because I might say something is still wrong with it as though I'm lying about it, she then offered to send me something else but kept correcting my statement of the food being rancy, I then told her you are more worried about wasting beef and broccoli then an unsatisfied customer who orders from you every other night and then hung up to avoid showing her my other side, I ate the food because I was that hungry and it definitely messed with my stomach, a waste of $17 I will never order from them again
