Strong drinks and relaxed feel. We happened to be there for live Irish music. Refreshingly "real" considering its (kinda) pretentious neighbors. Well-placed in its location.

Really good Irish pub that I will miss.

A really fun place, but New Years Eve 2019 was their last day of operation.

Live Celtic music & singing to get the Irish blood pumping. So many delicious Irish dishes to eat. Favorite of mine was the Shepherds Pie which I had New Year's Eve as they closed on January 1, 2020. What a loss in many ways. Hope they might open in another location. Owner & employes were friendly to customers also.

Bartender was not nice, maybe having a bad day. But they did have love music with traditional Irish music

This is an Irish Pub claiming to be Irish but is as far from being Irish as hog is from the moon. The drinks are great but the chef needs to go. Food is greasy and saugy. I had the fish-n-chips and the chips resembled greasy saugy limp strings. The cole slaw was bitter and the cod was a greasy lump of batter that felt like it was sprayed with starch, a stiff lump of grease. Chef, you need to change the grease in your fryer, it's bitter and ruining your food. The boxty was thin as a crepe, saugy and tasteless. The vegetables on the boxity took on the bitterness of the cast iron pan it was served in. This is a great place to drink, but the food is some of the worst Irish Pub food I've ever had. I came here due to the 5 star rating and it didn't measure up. The Tin Whistle is overpriced and overrated.

Great place for dinner and drinks. We had over 20 people and service was great. Entertainment was also top notch.

The best outdoor patio in Charlottesville! I do wish they'd comp me drinks when I bring 20 people from my camping group there for happy hour, as I do every few months. : P

We visit the Tin Whistle just about every time we visit Charlottesville. The atmosphere is friendly, the drinks are reasonable, and the staff is helpful. A favorite!

So as yawl know if ya read my posts, it's mandatory to find an Irish pub when I travel. So found this on via yelp. Stopped in for lunch. Was greeted by Ms Janet. She told us pick a table, we did. She brought menus and water, asked if we had any question and would like anything else to drink, samples the Irish red on tap. It was good so got a pint, my buddy got a pint of Guinness. We started with the Dublin coddle. For the main meals I was tossed up between corned beef n cabbage and the bangers n mash. So asked Ms Janet she said both are good. I said surprise me. She brought out bangers n mash, Dayum it was great! So finished it up, looked over the desert menu, decided on the baileys chocolate mousse and a coffee. Great combo. Food and service was 5 stars. Please stop in have a pint or three and some delicious food.

I'm pretty sure all of the food is precooked or frozen. My husband ordered the scotch egg and I asked if the egg was soft boiled.I was told that it was made with a hard boiled egg. When it was served, everything was over cooked. I ordered the bread pudding and it tasted good but was still cold in the middle!

At some point in your life, you might decide that you need a big plate of Irish comfort food to satisfy yourself after a long day of drinking. If you find yourself in central Virginia, look no further than the Tin Whistle Pub near downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. They have an adorable little outdoor patio with string lights and live music. Inside, you might be greeted by regulars and fighting robots on the Discovery Channel. As for the food, we ordered classic Bangers and Mash along with Corned Beef and Cabbage. It's hard to compare the real deal in Ireland, but the well-composed flavors of meat and potatoes are generally pretty satisfying. Easy choice if you desire some classic Irish fixin's in your life!
