Wood Grill Buffet

In my daughter’s words, this place was epic. She loved the buffet options even though she can sometimes be picky for a 10 year old. I enjoyed that we could all find things that we liked. We came here on a 5th grade trip to DC with 96 people, and it was a quick option for us.

Amazing food! This is a must do if you are in the area, especially if you have a large family and need a reasonably priced option. Just know that the restaurant is crowded essentially at all times, so be patient and don't expect a quiet, romantic dining experience. It was clean and the service fantastic/friendly. I will definitely return.

The thing that really hit me was how awesome the staff was. This place was HAPPENING and all the crew - servers, linemen, cashiers, etc. - they were BUSTLING!! and polite and smiling!! The food was really good too - plenty of it and fresh and well seasoned. But, as we all know, a surly waiter can nix that. As other reviews have stated, go hungry. There is a wide variety and I took small samplings of many things. But, even doing that, there was too much. I especially looked for foods I don't cook, so here's my go to suggestions: Fried chicken livers - that's a thing I don't cook, but miss, and they were like I remember them! Fantastic!! Squash and the lima beans with ham- 5 star!! Roasted brussle sprouts and mushrooms - I don't even like brussle sprouts and these were great! Collards - I'm from the deep south so was not impressed - I would not recommend. Fried chicken was delightful!! Hot wings - really good, but not special. Their chocolate cream pie really surprised me - I only took a bite - I was too full for a full piece - but wonderful. Chocolate cake - great frosting, but so-so cake. My mother had the fried fish - she felt it was all crust. The barbeque was good. Shrimp was good - maybe label the tarter sauce. The salad bar looked great, but I was there for real food - I can make a salad. As seniors, our bill was about $35- $2.50 per drink - but I did add a $7 tip because our server was so great- so the final bill was about $42. Definitely go here as a place to experience a vast difference. And it's real food - nothing cookie stamped about it.

The food at Wood Grill in Charlottesville was quite plentiful and sufficient for a southern-style buffet. There were lots of decent choices, including southern dishes like sweet potato casserole, fried catfish and a hefty selection of collard greens, as well as your favorite comfort foods, like pizza, burgers, tacos, meatloaf, seafood, and a great selection of accoutrements! (side dishes) I heavily recommend trying it at least once, and if you do, I hope that you are as lucky as I was to get Giancarlo as your waiter! He was amazing, his energy was unmatched!

Everything was fresh and food was absolutely delicious! The selection of food was off the charts! Server was great! Bathrooms were very clean.

Experienced staff and friendly. Over 100 items on the menu and freshly cooked daily from scratch. From management down to the bussers it's a fun filled friendly atmosphere. Great place to bring the family or your next party.
