Great food on the fly. I'm surprised to see one still open. So I had to stop by and get some crispy chicken. The servers were excellent and had the food out quick! Tip: Tell them to go easy on the gravy. Half my mashed potato bowl was gravy.
Quaint roadside diner. The fried chicken and sides were tasty. The prices were great! Staff was friendly and welcoming.

It was my first visit here. Clients in Lynchburg recommended that I make a pitstop here in Chatham on my way back home. I knew I was in for a surprise when even the nice ladies working at the gas station next door gave a rousing endorsement for the fried chicken! They weren’t kidding! The restaurant is a tiny , modest place with very friendly, welcoming, and attentive staff. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken dinner with sides and a sweet tea as recommended by Cameron, who was very helpful! Thank you! The chicken was amazing! Lightly breaded, perfectly spiced, and absolutely flavorful!? I would guess that the chicken is brined because this was probably ONE OF THE BEST samples of fried chicken that I’ve ever tasted! It’s been a bit of an informal mission…okay, an obsession..to find the best fried chicken…and I’ve come across this standard bearer here in beautiful and quaint Chatham, VA! Wow, this is a game changer! You have to make your way here! You won’t regret it!

The fried chicken was good but the "Big" Skillet sandwich was a joke. I'm 52 and have been eating Big Skillet since the early 80s from various Golden Skillet locations in other parts of the state. The sandwich is supposed to be Big. This sandwich was the size of a kids hamburger with the chicken breast filled that should be on the sandwich cut into a quarter and served on the little bun. It's a disgrace to the actual Big Skillet sandwich which is very good. Should be served on a big sesame seed bun. I guess they save a buck this way at the expense of the customer experience.
