***THE BEST sushi/sashimi in the USA!!!*** Truly an authentic sushi vibe. Brings me back to my time in Japan and is just as good as it is overseas. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, you will not be disappointed.

Today was my second time dining in at this restaurant during lunch. Both times, I was served by the same young woman, and each time she gave off very negative energy. Anyone who has experienced it probably knows exactly who I’m talking about.
There’s a difference between being laid-back and being flat-out dismissive. Her facial expressions, tone, and overall demeanor made it clear she wasn’t concerned about my experience—nor anyone else’s, for that matter.
Not to mention, there was another customer dining in who ended up walking out saying, “That’ll be the last time,” after waiting patiently for someone to bring him his check. He eventually looked back to see every front-line worker texting, so he got up and walked over to pay instead.
To make matters worse, I ordered the same meal both days but was charged $3 more today—with no reasonable explanation.
So, I won’t be dining in again. From now on, it’s carry-out only for me, where I can confirm my total upfront and avoid the unnecessary attitudes.

Hanaki isn't a large restaurant but you don't feel squeezed together. The staff are always pleasant and the food quality is high. After many visits, the food and service has been very consistent.

Food was good, our server had a bad attitude so we asked for a new one because she kept cutting us off for asking simple questions. Then the server we got was nice to us, but would walk by our previous server and look at us and smile. It was just uncomfortable and confusing because we never gave her a reason to be rude to us.

I took the liberty of trying several different sushi rolls so you don't have to. Everything I have gotten from here has been absolutely delicious! I tried the crabcake roll, the Disney roll, the Superstar roll, the sweet potato roll, the spider roll, Mars roll and the Volcano roll. That was just in a matter of 2 days lol. I orderd to go and food was ready within 15 minutes. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Edit to add I went back again and tried the Lava and Blossom rolls as well. Out of the 9 rolls I've had so far the Lava roll was just ok.

It's just a smaller space so it can get crowded during busy times, and may be tricky to do bigger parties of 6 or more.

Chesapeake secret right here! Best Sushi in Hampton Roads. Always consistently fantastic! Lunch or Dinner both are winners and we have eaten there for years. Staff is always polite- friendly and very attentive. This is the GO TO Sushi restaurant for us! I’ve never had a bad meal or poor service. It’s GREAT!
First time diner. Fantastic seaweed salad, Disney Roll, Treasury Roll, and gyoza. Friendly, prompt wait staff. Definitely deserves a return visit.

The quality of sushi felt comparable to what I can get at a grocery store, but a lot more expensive. I am not sure why this place is so highly reviewed. I would have been disappointed if the total cost $50, better yet over $100 for the quality.

My new go-to sushi spot! The quality of the ingredients is amazing while the chefs create the most delicious rolls. Get there early as the dinner rush picks up quickly. It is a small establishment but well worth the money and wait (should you even have to wait). Enjoy!!!
