When I was in high school in the early 2000’s, I would walk around the mall with my friends. As we passed through the food court, we would always get excited to see the folks of Nori Japan passing out free samples of their “yummy yummy chicken”. Sometimes we would take a couple extra laps because it was so good! To see that they’re still around is truly a blessing to the heart of my childhood. Thank you for being here all these years.

Nori Japan... was probably the first place I ever tried teriyaki chicken all the way back in 2003 or 2004. I was blown away and by high school I was a fixture there ordering the teriyaki chicken with double meat, on rice or noodle, with no veg probably two to three times a month until I moved away. Then every single time I'm back home the first place I stop is at the Chesapeake Square Mall and sure enough the familiar faces that have been working and owning Nori Japan for years are there to greet me, they still remember my order, and the teriyaki sauce is still my favorite in all of the world and I've had teriyaki chicken in places all over the world from Tokyo to Bangkok to hell London to Hollywood and still... Nori Japan Chesapeake holds that #1 spot for teryiaki chicken for me.
This place is an institution and a corner stone of the area. A a true blessing of a restaurant, I can promise yall that.
P.S. if yall could tell me what your teriyaki sauce recipe is since I live across the country now... I'd kiss yall lol

This was my first time eating here and I ordered the shrimp and chicken teriyaki with vegetable fried rice and it was delicious, I will return soon to try something else, they sure give you a lg portion and I was not able to eat it all. Keep up the great work and SERVICE'S.

Have been eating here occasionally for over a decade. Best asian fast food in Virginia. I'm certain that this place is quite literally the ONLY reason Chesapeake Square Mall is still open. Nori Japan needs to get thereselves a legit storefront outside of the mall. If the mall ever closes and we can't go here anymore it will be a serious loss to the community. Any review less than 5 stars CANNOT be trusted. You watch them cook the food right in front of you, they always ask if you want extra sauce (you do, trust me), and they are super friendly. In the words of their sample people, YUMMY YUMMY haha. Seriously though, please support this place so we don't lose it.

Chicken teriyaki was pretty good, a bit overcooked. Vegetables were fresh and could have been cooked a little bit more. Always a favorite local place! I'll be back
