I came here around new years with a friend and had a great time and came back tonight with my family. However the service was terrible tonight. There was no communication from wait staff, I had ordered pork katsu don and was given chicken without even being asked if that substitution was okay! (What if I was allergic?) And we didn't even get drink refills till we complained. Of the 5 of us 3 of us ordered the exact same thing, Hibachi Chicken, yet only 2 of the 3 orders came out. Supposedly the kitchen was having issues but they seemed to have no problem getting to-go orders together. Also Ants! In the bathroom!

Food was bad...sauce was watered down...they kept getting our order wrong. Nobody even came to seat us. This 4.7 review is not true.

Everything is sticky and there isn't a hibachi grill. They got my order wrong and overcooked the shrimp for my steak and shrimp hibachi. The sushi was light on the rice and everything is covered in some sweet sauce. They kept bringing random free food and drinks, but I wish the food I ordered was correct and tasty, but instead it wasn't.

First walking in I noticed Sakura had a dirty smell. I should have walked right out. Floors were dirty, table was sticky. House salad: The dressing was old, runny, and flavorless. This was suppose to be a ginger dressing but it did not resemble anything really edible. I did not try the Miso soup but 3 people got or and they said it was “weird.” Japanese fried rice was bland and cooked with chicken that tasted funny. It was sent back. Yaki soba was missing vegetables, brown, and bland. It also had the same “weird” chicken in it. My guess was this chicken was either old or cooked while frozen. This dish was also sent back. Two members of our party were served volcano rolls and chicken hibachi. These came out before the other two orders and were half eaten before the other two members ate. They said they were both “ok.” So, half of our table ate and the other half left to get food elsewhere. Service was slow and we waited on refills. They kept bringing over free stuff like pineapple smoothies, cucumbers, and ice-cream. They even gave us volcano rolls to go. I wont go back and Sakura needs to shut down, clean, and open up and focus on the food people order and not the cheap freebies. Anyway, if you are reading this, not sure how it got a 4.7 rating - the booth we sat in had an ultrasonic pest repellent plugged into the wall and visible. Again, I should have followed my instincts and bailed. I hope we all don't get sick.

⚠️ Food Poisoning Alert ⚠️
I’m visiting my hometown for the holidays and decided to grab something quick and easy to eat late at night. While I grew up in this area, I know the food scene isn’t the best, so I was skeptical about trying a local sushi spot. Despite my reservations, I ordered two rolls—the Angel Roll and Blackjack Roll—from this restaurant, which oddly boasts a 4.7-star rating. Unfortunately, my instincts were right, and it was a decision I deeply regret.
After finishing the sushi, I began feeling extremely tired and queasy. It didn’t take long before things took a turn for the worse. My stomach started churning, and I ended up vomiting. I tried to rest, but within 4-6 hours, I was running to the restroom repeatedly with severe diarrhea—six times in total. The situation escalated to violent puking down to bile, stomach cramps, chills, and feeling completely drained. This was one of the worst bouts of food poisoning I’ve ever experienced.
Concerned about what I might have consumed, I contacted the restaurant. I asked to speak with the owner or manager, but the person who answered was rude and dismissive, claiming no owner was available. When I pressed the issue, she hung up on me. Frustrated, I went to the restaurant in person to demand answers.
It was at this point I discovered the truth—the same person who claimed there was no owner was, in fact, the owner herself. She blatantly lied to me. She continued to brush me off, refusing to take responsibility until I raised my voice, explaining how sick their food made me and insisting on a refund. Only then, likely because other customers overheard the conversation, did she finally give me my money back. The lack of accountability and dishonesty was beyond unprofessional.
This isn’t just about bad service—this is about public health and safety. Their food made me violently ill, and their dishonesty in handling the situation was alarming. I urge everyone to think twice before eating here. This restaurant has 4.7 stars, but don’t let the rating fool you—it’s not worth risking your health.
This place needs to either drastically improve its food safety standards or shut down entirely. Avoid this place at all costs. Happy New Years!

Food is good, management is attentive. Each meal starts with free fresh fruit frozen drink. Location is a little sketchy.

Service was amazing. Fish and rolls were great and very tasty. Only thing that would make this place 5 stars is fresh ginger and Wasabi.

I came for the food but I keep on coming back for the service. The staff is always amazing, friendly and makes you feel like you’re VIP. I love the freebies and free samples they give. The dinner portions are HUGE! This is from someone who comes from Texas. 10/10 recommend!

Best sushi place around, literally the sweetest staff ever. My husband and I come here so often, we also choose to come for anniversaries and birthdays because of how amazing the food/ service is. They also give us random little samples when we come in. We get a whole buffet for the same price we pay to both go grab some burgers or something: Definitely recommend 10/10!! (I’ve told friends about this place who also say they’re a 10/10!)
