“Went here over the weekend with some friends as we were looking for a new sushi place to try that central for all of us. This is an absolute hidden gem. Everything we tried was amazing and had perfect texture and flavors. One of very few places that I've been to that I ignored my soy sauce, as everything was absolutely perfectly flavored. “I recently visited this Japanese restaurant and tried their lunch special, which included shrimp and veggie tempura along with katsu. The miso soup was definitely a highlight! Rich and flavorful! However, the side veggies were a bit bland, and while the tempura roll sushi was decent, it didn't quite stand out. Overall, it was a solid experience, earning a 4-star rating for the good miso soup and the satisfying katsu and tempura. Would recommend for a casual lunch!“

“Shiki Sushi & Hibachi is consistently a wonderful dining experience. Today I tried a new item for lunch and it was amazing! The Coral Roll - spicy crab & cucumber inside, topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, spicy mayo sauce and avocado was perfect as well as the Spring Rolls and Miso Soup.“

“I love kagura, I always come here!!! They have the best aged tofu of any place i've ever been & the shrimp tempura appetizer goes crAzy. I gave 4 stars because although I understand why the lunch & dinner prices increased, I feel that the menu selection (for lunch specifically) decreased. The proportions are also a little smaller, but honestly I love that because I can try a little of everything I want and if I want more - I'll order it!

Vegetarian options: I'm no vegetarian, so I'm not sure exactly how large the vegetarian selection is, but if you like tofu, they have THE BEST aged tofu❤️ The tempura fry on it is so light and air-y & perfect proportion to the tofu. Some places have too thick breading or to big of a tofu slab for the small proportion of breading.“

“Do not let the outside fool you, the sushi is on point. The chicken yakisoba was excellent as well. Between all of us, we had 5 different sushi rolls and all were excellent. The Manhattan was by far our favorite. This was the best sushi we've had anywhere in a long time.

We will be back.“

“My wife and I LOVE Japan Samurai! The owners are amazing, the food is fantastic, service is fast, and the ambiance is nice and cozy. We have tried every hibachi restaurant in the Hampton Roads area and this one is by far our favorite! You won’t regret coming here!

“We had a lovely dinner there tonight to celebrate my eldest son’s birthday. The sushi was not only beautiful, it was delicious. We also enjoyed pad Thai, pad see eaw, and Thai basil chicken. Friendly prompt service with delicious food.“

It gets a little quiet sometimes and being a hibachi style sitting makes conversation a little awkward because you can hear other party member conversations clearly at the table you are sitting at, as well as the ones next to you. Aside from that, this is a hibachi go-to. Wonderful spot!“

“I'm Italian, and honestly, I didn’t expect such a warm and enthusiastic welcome. The staff was super friendly, always helpful and smiling — they really made me feel at home.

One thing that really stood out was the focus on safety. You can tell they take it seriously, and that made me feel completely at ease.

The vibe is energetic and positive, and what impressed me the most was how open and judgment-free the place is. It’s truly inclusive, and you feel free to be yourself.
