This is the grossest hotel I’ve ever been. I thought I was being punked when I pulled up. It’s a 100% construction zone. I guess to their credit they are renovating. The rooms are so dated and smell disgusting. How is this even a qualified Marriott property? It’s soooooo awful. The woman at the front desk was super nice but this place needs to be shut down until renovations are done.
It was horrible. They are doing construction, remodeling, and rebuilding the Hotel. The smell of the hotel put me into an asthma attack along with lots of dust from the construction. I use the Marriott app and do not see anywhere that it states they are under Construction. I send a message to the front desk and was told pretty much to bad deal with it as it says on our page we are doing construction. Pictures below. If you see where it notifies us of construction going on let me know.
This was the most disgusting Marriott I’ve ever stayed at. Dated, worn and filthy carpet and furniture, noisy AC, just completely gross. Could not get more than one room key. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Don’t do it. Go anywhere else.
This hotel will begin renovating on June 5 and until then stay away. Our room should not have been occupied as the TV remote had great difficulty changing channels which is not a big deal. However, there was no working phone in the room so to talk to the front desk required a trip to the lobby. As we all know, 911 calls do not always know the location but a land line call does. If we had an emergency we could not call 911 or the front desk. When we went to the front desk there were other guests complaining including one whose room phone kept ringing. This is the second Marriott hotel we have stayed at that is sub par.perhaps they need to look closer to their smaller regional properties
Not recommended. The property is not well maintained, very dirty, damaged and problems in every room I and my work group occupied. Very dated. Stained furniture, floors, walls, etc. broken TVs in the lobby. Staff appearances poor
I am writing this terrible review now after Christian the general manager decided to not honor his word. I was supposed to be refunded points for my inconveniences during my stay and he is not a man of his word. I was checked into a room that had no shower head or light bulbs in the lamp fixture. Of course I didn’t realize any of this until night time when I’m getting ready to bathe my 3 children under 4 and myself. We had to uproot to another room dragging pack n play and all. This new room had a different model toilet so it got clogged. We were told everything from there’s no housemen on property to we don’t have plungers. The BARTENDER ended up finding a plunger that was BROKEN. My husband took it back downstairs and someone gave his a SNAKE INSTEAD!!! What guest has ever snaked their own toilet?! No engineer and we’re not moving our entire family again at 9p at night. I took pictures for proof of this horrible experience. All this time find out the general manager lives on the property and did not come from his own room to snake this toilet if you had no engineer or houseman. Please don’t even bother. The pool is permanently closed. They’re remodeling. Check them out once all this is completed. Maybe they’ll have proper rooms and staffing.
Read the prior reviews. They are valid. The hotel is old, tired, and worn. Adjacent to highway so good luck if you are on the wrong side of the building. There is a sign on the door that says the pool is closed permanently. Something expensive must have happened. Staff is generally friendly, but one can tell management really doesn't care about the customer experience. I'm surprised Marriott would allow their name to be used on this property. Heed this and prior reviews.
This is one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. Certainly not what you would expect for a Marriott. It is supposed to be renovated and boy does its need it. Poorly laid out room; small TV; horrible bathroom. Basically no vanity. Bathroom tub with shower in POOR CONDITION; NO EXHAUST FAN/VENT. The room lighting is awful; forgot trying to do hair and makeup. The only positive has been the staff. Polite and try to be helpful.
First let me say I am a frequent traveler for business with appx. 100 nights per year in hotels. This particular Marriott Courtyard should be closed. Everything about it reeks of 3rd rate hotel. Phone in my room did not work, two lamps were broken, carpet soiled and dirty, furniture looks like it came through a hurricane. Desk chair was worn through. Everything about this property is deplorable. Housekeeping will not clean room but once every 3 days although rates stay the same when you have to make your own bed and get clean towels yourself. Staff was unfriendly with uncaring attitude. Understand that this property is due for renovation in 2023. Hopefully they can bring it back to Marriott standards.

The staff here are amazing!!! I can't say enough about how awesome they are. Every person that we saw spoke with kindness to us and were very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, but the carpets could use a refresh. Requset for help from future guests and staff....My daughter left her stuffed kitty in our room on July 2, 2022. If anyone happens to find it under or behind a bed please turnover to the front desk. We are desperate to find it. It's so very special to her and has her pacifier in it as it's heart. She got it when she turned two, gave up her paci, and became a big girl. Brokenhearted mom and daughter haven't slept the same since.
Marriott should be ashamed to have their name on this hotel. The location is great as it is in the best area of Chesapeake with a quick access to the interstate. But not only is the hotel old and in desperate need of remodeling but the rooms need a deep cleaning. Additionally, we had 2 rooms for 4 nights. We were told at check in that room cleaning, because of covid, would be done once every three days or could be scheduled at reception if we needed it sooner. We requested room cleaning every morning. The room was never cleaned. Actually, they never cleaned the room the entire we stayed. Enough is enough. These hotels are taking advantage of Covid to reduce their expenses in cleaning services, laundry et al. But of course these savings are not passed on to the consumer. Regardless, I will not be stay at these hotel again nor could I recommend anyone else to stay.
I just checked in today for a one night stay. I was riding around looking for other hotels to check into after I checked into this one but was concerned based on reviews I read on them as well. We are Platinum Rewards level so we have stayed at several Properties from the JW and Ritz level thru Fairfield and I must say this is the worst Marriott property that I have ever stayed. If it was not for the appointment I must make tomorrow morning, I would jump back in my vehicle and drive the 100+ miles back home. Whst disappoints me the most is that I am seeing reviews like mine for quite some time and nothing appears to be done about it. I did not read the reviews before booking it because we stayed here 10 years or so ago and had no idea it would be allowed to fall to this level. My advice is avoid this property.
This place was the worst overpriced place I have ever stayed at. It reminded me of a frat house at college that someone tried to make look nice because parents were coming. The couch was nasty and no way would I sit on it, it was missing 2/3 cushions and a leg. The shower only used 1/2 the water as the other half just filled the tub. The fridge roared all night, the floors were sticky - just go anywhere else what a complete mistake. No room service ever came in. It should have been renovated about 200 guests ago my guess ?
First, let me say- the staff was super friendly & helpful!! The hotel just plain needs a remodel or super deep clean as it was one of the worst hotels that I have ever stayed at. Surprised Marriott allows such degradation of their brand-rundown, stained furnishings with an intense rank smell in the room-so we kept AC on full tilt so you wouldn’t notice as much. Do your research- you can find an equivalently priced hotel that is significantly better!
