Hands down, the best sushi and customer service in all of Chesapeake! This is my daughter’s go-to spot with me whenever she’s in town. We usually order through Uber Eats or DoorDash, so they probably don’t recognize me in person. Tonight, my son and I went in for dinner , he absolutely loves this place. He took his retainers out, put them in a Ziploc bag, and left them on the table. Hours later, when he went to put them back in, we realized they were missing. We searched everywhere before deciding to call.We spoke to Allen, who told us the trash had already been taken out but that he’d check anyway. Five minutes later, he called back , he had found them! I can’t thank him enough. That’s true customer service , going above and beyond, even after the bill is paid.

Really great place. Maybe a little pricey, but awesome atmosphere and staff, especially on off-hours. Will be coming back soon.

Ordered 2 rolls for pick up. The sushi rice was super dry. Made the secrions of the roll fall apart in pieces. The texture of the rice was nearly crunchy. It was too expensive for it to be this poorly done. This was my first time having yama Chen and since there is so much competition out there - it’s probably my last time.

I’ve been a frequent customer at this restaurant and have always considered it a go-to spot for dinner. However, I had a disappointing experience two days ago during a pickup. As I arrived to collect my order, an employee stood directly in front of me near the door, physically blocking my path in a way that felt confrontational—as if she was demanding an explanation for something. I even asked her if the restaurant was closing, thinking she wanted me to leave.

Customer service is a crucial part of any dining experience, and it should be held to the same standard as the quality of the food. Unfortunately, this interaction made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

To add to that, some of the food in my order tasted old and not fresh, which was very disappointing given my previous positive experiences.

I just want to emphasize that how employees speak to and treat customers matters just as much as the food itself. Respect and professionalism go a long way in maintaining loyal customers.

Its a nice atmosphere and a lot of selections to choose from. Always good food. Staff is friendly and attentive. Adamame, fried gyoza, spring rolls, teriyaki chicken meal, spicy California roll and the crazy Yama roll were delicious today.

Walk in impression was good. Nice inviting atmosphere. Not crowded. As a matter of fact we were 1 of only 2 couples in the restaurant. Our server was nice but it took an hour and 6 minutes to get 4 rolls. Nothing else. The rolls were edible. Not as good as I was hoping.

We placed a to go order online and it was ready for pick up exactly when they said it would be. When I went inside the hostess was very kind and happy to be there and handed me the order. They even gave us free spring rolls! The packaging was very neat and cool and the food was also amazing! They’re doing a great job and this is my new sushi spot!

My food was pretty good. I got the house salad which was mixed lettuce and cucumbers with dressing, a philly roll which was good, and a christmas roll. The christmas roll had seaweed salad on it which I typically like but tasted like it wasn't rehydrated properly as it was "harder" than I am used to. My husband enjoyed his beef yakisoba despite the unusual additions of edamame and corn in it. My 5 year old liked her terriyaki chicken but we were disappointed that there was no smaller portion size for children, even an appetizer size would have been enough for her. We felt wasteful because she doesn't eat rice and it came with a heaping serving which my husband tried to eat some of but couldn't finish it (see picture of what was left once she was full). They offered free spring rolls with our meal but we couldn't finish them because they were luke warm when they came out.
The atmosphere was lovely. It is clean, well decorated and not noisy.
The service left a bit to be desired. They were not busy at all, there was only two other tables the whole time we were there. However we had to ask for more water, my 5 year old's food came out about 5 minutes after our food (kids don't like to wait until last) which made no sense since my husband also ordered from the kitchen, not the sushi bar. We had to ask twice for a fork for our child to be able to eat her food. The waitress did not clear our plates at all and she brought the check when we were clearly still eating.

Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is kid friendly but the service and offerings are not. There is no kid's menu or options to purchase a smaller portion for kids. They also don't offer "kid chopsticks" like most sushi places.

Best sushi I've had around here. Volcano roll converted my dad into a sushi eater. Spicy California roll was huge too. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back

in depth review on TripAdvisor. Only negative thing I can say is the lighting is very dim. The food is spectacular and very fresh with lots of unexpected surprises.
