This place has seemingly been through many owners since it started maybe 25-+ years ago. At that time, the original owner created a pleasantly decorated small restaurant with a really terrific menu. The food was wonderfully prepared and not the normal Chinese take on what Americans like. But the owner seemingly overestimated the tastes of his market and was gone in a very few months. So sad. Fade out, fade in over the years as a Chinese restaurant. These days the same location is called Chan's Garden. We ordered take-out on-line. (You wouldn't want to eat in because the current decor is so dark and depressing) Not necessarily peculiar to this restaurant, there are the little things that drive you nuts about restaurants these days: The on-line ordering "convenience fee". Whose convenience? Certainly not the customer's, and not designated that fee for using a credit card that is getting so ubiquitous . Then the in-your-face "tips" request, long before you've gotten the food or any service. Absolutely no one in the restaurant when I went to pick up the food. Except the cashier (owner? Nice enough fellow) So who was I tipping again? And for what? The food: A scallops concoction in what amounted to a quart of heated water, only arguably an attempt at a broth, a few onion flakes and maybe 8 scallops. It was remarkable: splendidly tasteless. Vegetables: the standard broccoli-stems-in-brown- sauce, They were...well...vegetables. Again, lacking in anything that could be called taste. At least they were not overcooked. So credit due, etc. And counterintuitively at this point in the meal, the fortune cookies were pretty good, tastier than the norm. But of course, the restaurant had nothing to do with the cookies, except perhaps to have stumbled into the selection of the vendor. We've learned over the years not to expect too much from local Chinese restaurants. But this one takes the cake. Try the Peking down in Chester at Rt 1 & 10, which used to be pretty darn good.

Wow! This place is amazing. Now for me, when I say amazing in regards to restaurants it is normally always weighted about 75% directly towards the only reason I am there, The Food. This small place has been tucked in beside a Food Lion at a strip mall and slinging rice for over 25 YEARS! But unlike so may other oriental establishments, they have been working on the food and got it right!! But more on that in a minute.

After 25 years, it was finally time for a Make-Over. And I don't mean just replacing the nasty peice of hanging plastic across the counter like they have at banks. Or cleaning the glass on the old washed out colored pictures of the food dishes plastered all over the walls which still leave you wondering if that green stuff is broccoli or a fuzzy catapillar. I'm talking about making a space that is honest to goodness CHILL!

Several super call-outs. The huge matching pictures on the walls immediately start to fill you will a sense of peace and being relaxed. The lighting is not overwhelming but still allows you to see what you're eating. The truly nice touch is that even the design and color of the hanging lamp shades match the color and design of the wall pictures to multiply the atmosphere of the space. Very calming. A new addition to the dining room is the heated buffet table for their lunch crowd. The small mirrors and crushed glass diamond accenting on the buffet table also matches the front service counter. They shared great pride in their long and prosperous cultural heritage along the back wall. Very nice touch while maintaining the gravity of their history.

The Food was amazing! So, full disclosure, I make this statement based on the level of their ability to make the simplest and most fundamental item on their menu. The Fried Rice. Because rice is the foundation of most every dish served, if the fried rice sucks, so does the dish. Why would I care if your Wanton Soup is out of this world if I can't stand your rice. In the case of this restaurant rice pays the bills, not the soup.

The rice was perfect. No hard uncooked grains or dry no-tasting cardboard that no amount of soy sauce could change. They don't normally have bean sprouts in their fried rice but were happy to add them when I asked with no fuss or whinning. So tender that I was actuality able to taste and know I was eating INDIVIDUAL grains of rice and not a bowl of chopped straw or maybe oatmeal. And, everything about my Wife's dish of Sesame Chicken was fantastic. Not a bunch of hard clumps of batter to cover up tiny pieces of chicken.

Great experience. Very kind and attentive server. They were closed for a month or so during the make-over but are now back and open for business. I speak blessings and abundance over them. I invite and challenge you to test my review.

And while you are doing that, ENJOY!

Food was not good. There was a weird chemical to soapy flavor underneath everything. Also everything needed salt. We threw a all the food away as soon as we got

This newly remodeled Chinese buffet is a great addition to Chesterfield. It’s a small and convenient location god great food and quality service. The area has been needing a quality buffet like this for a while and Chan’s exactly what we were hoping for. I know that my wife and I will continue visiting to get that convenient Chinese fix and I hope you do also.

Food was wet for some reason. Chow mein didn't have noodles and was swimming in water, chicken pad pei sauce was very water down, and pineapple chicken sauce was also very watered down. Very disappointed that everything was swimming in water that made the flavor disappear.

Chan's Garden Restaurant renovated the Restaurant recently and opened back up for dining in as well as take out. The service was excellent and food was served quickly. We had items off the Thai list, which were excellent. Highly recommend this newly opened dine in restaurant.

We ate dinner but they have an all you can eat lunch buffet Monday through Saturday.
