This place had great sandwiches and salads to eat outside or take to the beach. So sad to see it was closed at rhe end of the season. Hopefully someone will buy it and carry on the great tradition.
We came here after waiting and being ignored by the front of house staff over 30 minutes prior at a diner down the road. Although there was a line here shortly after opening, it went quick and was totally worth it. The artisan sandwiches are made fresh, to order, and the way they’re assembled, wrapped and bagged, shows they care about the food served and the customer receiving it. Portions are generous and worth every cent. Customer service was excellent and the gal at the order window was bubbly, polite, and appreciative of our business and tip. We will be back.
Friendly staff serve a variety of healthy and tasty sandwiches. Vegan and vegetarian options. Being a vegan, my favourite is the Santa Cruz. Also, homemade soups, chili, and baked goods. Eating at the Sea Star each year I visit the Eastern Shore is one of the biggest things I look forward to! Best sandwich place I've ever eaten at!
We always loved the food at SeaStar. I was very disappointed when I heard they were going out of business. The fact that I’m currently sitting in their parking lot at 5pm and they’re closed when their Google ad hours say they’re open until 6 and current status says open…we’ll that sure eases the sting of hearing they’re going out of business. While I’m sitting here typing this, I’ve seen at least three cars pull in and see that they’re closed and pull back out. If you’re going to use Google to advertise your business, at least keep up with it.
Our friends insisted on treating my husband and I to lunch. I had the chicken salad and my husband had roast beef. My chicken salad was very good and his was fine. It is too expensive for just a sandwich. We would return if the price included a side item. Oh if you do go, definitely get a blondie, it was so yummy.
The sandwiches were freshly made but the breads were a little heavy and a little too much. The sandwich was good but it wasn’t absolutely delicious. We have tried other sandwich shops in Chincoteague and found them to be more to our liking and tastes.
Grabbed some Sea Star to take and enjoy on the beach. As someone who can't have gluten or wheat, I was disappointed they didn't offer a GF wrap or other alternative. However, the breadless sandwich was sooo good! Their products are fresh, tasty, and worth it. We showed up right when they opened and they had a line form right away. I can understand why!

TAKE OUT ONLY! But they do have some benches in their yard area. The food was very good and reasonably priced. They seem to do small batches of prep as we went in the late evening and they were selling out of stuff quickly. Be prepared to make substitutions if you go later.
Hidden gem that gets better with age. Great vegan and vegetarian options. Sandwiches, wraps, teas, lemonade, baked goods (not vegan). They also stock Joe's chips. We've been going here since it was a little nothing on main St. A mustVisit if you're on the island.Plentiful outdoor seating
C’mon, people - no gluten free bread? And even the hummus isn’t gluten free? It’s the 21st century. Not asking you to change your business model, but purchasing a loaf of gluten free bread would allow people with food allergies to enjoy your food. My wife enjoyed her soup and sandwich.

It is so, so rare to find a restaurant that has lots of great selections for vegetarians AND meat eaters. I love a lot of flavor and texture in my sandwiches, and the Sea Star totally delivers. This time around I had the tabouleh wrap, which was a great mix of ingredients, all of which were fresh and delicious. It was nearly half an hour til I had a chance to eat (I had picked it up for a picnic), and since there was a dressing on the ingredients list, I was half expecting at least a corner of the wrap to be soggy, but nope! It had been constructed in such a way that none of the wet ingredients impacted the wrap. I also ordered a brownie, which I found too sweet (but I find most American desserts too sweet), but my kids devoured it. The place is takeway only, but there are a couple picnic tables outside that you could eat at. There is plenty of parking. As reviewers said, it is popular, so the line can be long. However, once you get up to the window, it's usually just a few minutes before you get your food. The sandwiches are not cheap, but since they are filled with delicious, fresh ingredients, I feel the price is justified and on par with the local rates. I just wish I lived closer so I could eat there more often.
Ingredients are so fresh! Wraps, sandwiches and hummus were all excellent!!! A long line to order but worth the wait!!!
Although the wait can be long, the food is worth the wait. Each sandwich is made fresh so that takes time. Lots of vegan options with other vegetarian options that can be made vegan. Won’t miss going to Sea Star Cafe when visiting Chincoteague, VA again.
