Panera Bread in Colonial Heights needs much improvement… they can’t follow instructions… got the egg white sandwich it was horrible. The one in Midlothian Va is much better..

Front register Dale told me that they were out of plain cream cheese for the half dozen bagels I already began to order. He proceeded to go to the back and came out with the single servings of cream cheese. He told me I could only have 5. When I told him I wanted 6 for the 6 bagels I was buying, he told me I was acting entitled. As a paying customer I found that so rude, when in fact, I was willing to pay for the extra cream cheese. He didn’t ask me to pay for it nor did he tell me how much the extra cream cheese would have been because he was too focused on being rude on Christmas Eve in a customer service setting. Dale did this location a disservice with his lack of customer service skills.

Every time I come here, colonial heights the kitchen manager is rude unfriendly, Never makes sure the food comes out properly. Every time I order a customized simple avocado toast , there is an issue with it and an issue with her attitude. The gentleman at the register is super friendly and over worked.
I paid extra for cilantro , extra avocado garlic aioli and bacon. There was just a small smear of avocado and 1 leaf piece of cilantro literally.

I took my 5 y/o in for a sugar cookie on a Sunday afternoon and they were out. Oh the humanity.
The kids grilled cheese is a great deal.
I visited on Monday, Dec 1 for the first time in this location. I usually enjoy Panera Bread and have visited numerous times in the prior Colonial Heights location. I was somewhat disappointed due to the lack of cleanliness in the restaurant. Crumbs and trash on the floor and tabletops and there weren’t many customers during this time (around 2 or 3pm). Napkin holders were empty. Bathrooms had pieces of paper and trash around and didn’t appear too clean. Some drink machines were low on beverages. The food was good, however the soup was lukewarm. The salad was very good. Maybe this was a one-off day or there weren't enough staff. When the server called our name she sounded like an angry mom screaming for her kid (my perception maybe, but didn’t sound friendly). This is not the standard I usually see and expect from Panera in various locations I’ve visited. I may visit again. But if the environment remains similar I will not be going back to this location.

Panerai Bread is not the place it used to be several years ago. It used to be you got your money's worth of food, now it's like their food sizes are smaller and the price got higher. I came to this new location hoping it ŵould be different, boy was I wrong. First I ordered their chicken cranberry sandwich, but I customized it to only have romaine lettuce arugula. I get the sandwich and they slapped iceberg lettuce in it. Either the staff think they're funny or they don't know the difference between iceberg and romaine. They didn't give me the receipt, so that was scrapped. The atmosphere felt uncomfortable because it seemed like they wanted me to hurry and leave even though their hours show they're open until 9pm. Probably not going to be doing Panera anytime soon.

I placed an order through the Panera app, thinking that would eliminate the chance for mistakes since I entered everything myself with no special requests. I ordered my usual “You Pick Two” — a turkey and cheddar sandwich with a side salad. I drove 15 minutes from work to pick it up, only to return to my office and find that my sandwich had no turkey in it.
This is extremely frustrating because “turkey” is literally in the name of the sandwich. I double-checked my receipt and online order just to make sure I hadn’t mis-clicked, but I ordered it exactly as listed. There was no customization, no special instructions — just the standard sandwich.
Driving that far, spending the time and gas money, only to get back to my desk and realize I essentially paid for a cheese sandwich, feels like a complete waste. Mistakes happen, but this one makes no sense and shows a lack of care. At this point, I’d like a full refund, because I shouldn’t have to pay for food that isn’t prepared correctly — especially when the main ingredient is missing.
This location really needs to tighten up its quality control.

The chicken noodle soup didn't have enough noodles and veggies. It was much broth.

Used to work here but still came in on my off days when I could to get a good ol’ Tomato soup with my little baguette to dip in it. Also, I absolutely recommend our summertime item called the Strawberry poppyseed salad. I was hesitant at first cause I’m a picky eater, but I’ve come to absolutely love it. Just without the nuts due to personal preference. The frozen strawberry lemonade is super tasty as well. Wish I had one in Honolulu. I miss my souls and salad.
