Update: Since posting this review, I have observed improved staffing and morale at the Grit location in Crozet. The coffee is still excellent as usual and the manager always does a great job supporting the employees and providing a positive customer service experience.
Grit ownership and leadership need to address the poor staffing of the Grit location in Old Trail, Crozet.
Today I was in this location for at least 25 minutes: I waited 5-10 minutes for the barista to take my order when I was the only one waiting in line, then I waited another 15 minutes for 2 iced Americanos before checking on the status of my drinks- only to find there were still 3 tickets ahead of mine. At that point I canceled my order and received a refund.
I am a regular customer of Grit- Crozet; however, in recent months the staffing has been terrible. It is sad to see just one barista taking orders and making drinks by herself, who appears overwhelmed and tearful. At one point the tearful barista stepped away in the back to take a moment for herself.
This is no way to treat employees of a Grit location that is quite busy and receives a lot of community business, especially when I see that other Grit locations seem appropriately staffed. This location will only get busier as Crozet residential and commercial development continues.
Grit ownership and leadership- please address this obvious staffing and morale issue at Grit in Crozet. Until then, we will avoid the Crozet Grit location on Sundays and any other days that appear to be poorly staffed.

This place is so cool. The workers were so nice and knowledgeable. Everyone should order their Cafe con Leche for the ultimate espresso and sugary experience. Nicholas and Seth were pretty awesome. 10/10

So incredibly slow recently. Waiting inside for over 30 minutes for my order every time I go even if just one or two people are ahead of me. Placed order online today at 10 AM, and it said it would be ready at 10:15 online. Go to the store at 10:30 and the order had not even been started. Workers are very nice but have no sense of urgency. Unless you have an hour of time to kill no point in going here.

Great coffee! Friendly staff, talk about service with smile! My first trip, I had a large coffee with a brownie. The brownies are cut like a scone; crispy, buttery and lots of chocolate, definitely not a box mix. I work construction all over so I visit a lot of coffee shops; this one takes the cake in Albemarle Co! Rock on Crozet! I will be back to try more delicious food, great coffee and see the friendly staff. If it's raining I'm bringing a book to enjoy in a cozy chair!

Three people behind the counter doing nothing. 2 customers in store. We order a drip coffee. As we are using the cream and sugar, the employee with blue hair audibly explains to her co workers the coffee they just poured us is four hours old and they should switch it out. We walk out spending $8 on four hour old coffee as they switch to the new blend immediately after us. Train better. Do better.
Update review: didn’t add vanilla to the matcha we ordered but definitely charged me for it!! THIS PLACE SUCKS

Very hostile environment with extremely rude employee. Worst service I've ever had anywhere, much less at a Cafe. I was the first person in and the last person to receive my order. Of which they made incorrectly and the cup was only half full. And when mentioning the fact that we just watched everyone behind us in line get their orders fast and before us, they dismissed it and proceeded to yell at and interupt my inlaws. I would have gotten my money back but they were creating a hostile environment so I needed to get my toddler out of there. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! Not to mention neither of the sweaty, shaggy haired boys working there had hairnets on. I saw both of them run their hands through their greasy looking hair to get it out of their face, and then touch the tops of everyone's lids. I want my time and money back. No I did not drink that, it went straight in the trash when I got home.
If you go in there, feel free to take the $ out of the tip jar, they don't deserve it. (I know because I stupidly put it there before I received my order with a large and unnecessary amount of attitude to go with it)
If only there were a no star option for these reviews. 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫
P.S. I've never left a bad review before, only positive. This experience was so bad that I wish I would have read the yelp reviews first. Apparently this location is known for this behavior, so here we are.

Riley and Seth were very friendly and the store had a great relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend giving The Grit a try, you will not be disappointed.
