Ordered off Uber Eats; Mac n cheese was $10.50 and the serving size was shockingly small. It also tasted awful. Thick and seemed to be old. Had to wash it down with milk. Sweet potatoes were overly sweet. Also bad; how do you mess that up? They gave me enough butter with the cornbread for one bite. Which is all I’ll be having bc that too was so dense and gummy and also clung to mouth. Butter was gross too! The chicken wings had a great bread texture but little meat. Looked like reheated old chicken from two days ago. Waffle was tasty. Very disappointed in this food quality. I get that food won’t be fresh being delivered but this was more than that. Food seemed days old and tasted bad. Total waste of money.

This was my first time here and I referred this place to my friends, because I was so happy it was soul food. The customer service was on a 1000, when I got my food the collards, cabbage and potatoes salad were good, however I decided on this place because someone told me about it and I wanted ribs, unfortunately the ribs were not fresh ( the flavor of the rub was awesome, they were also tender) and I can honestly say they weren't fresh and I don't mean they were prepared hours ( 2-4hrs )before.
I am disappointed!☹🥺😢

I just left The Down Home Cafe. The customer service and the atmosphere were nice. Please be prepared, everything there is Al La cart. Therefore, some of the sides are expensive, such as 8.50 for a side of collard greens.

I was really looking forward to having some macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately, I was told that it was “ backed up.” I traveled an hour to go there to support, but unfortunately, they weren’t ready.

My order consisted of 3 chicken wings, potato salad and collard greens and a Pepsi. The potato salad was just ok at best. I will not be returning, but I wish this establishment nothing but the very best.

Great Experience great atmosphere and pleasant vibes! I had a great time. The staff here are so welcoming and kind. I enjoyed the food everything tastes great and gets five stars.

My first time with my girlfriend trying your establishment. I tried the fried whiting fish, which was cooked to perfection. However, the salt was just too much for me to enjoy, and I'm a salt user. My friend had some type of combo that she mentioned was extremely salty as well. We also tried the mac & cheese, which was pretty good. Thank you, and I will try again, hoping the salt used in the preparation of food will taper off some.

Absolutely delicious!!

I’m proud of this place, great prices, and the food options are so enticing but I suggest cutting back on the salt just a tad because it overpowers the natural flavors and textures of the food. I want to see us thrive so I have to be honest. 🤎

I HIGHLY recommend this place turn into carry out and delivery only. It is not suitable for dine in, literally butte are hitting our table every time they pass by-insanity I ordered catfish, collard greens and cornbread and my daughter orders a bacon cheeseburger with fries. I got my catfish ONLY 20 minutes prior to everything else. Don’t was cold when everything else came. Drinks took 10 mins to get and sweet tea is not sweet. No one checked on us until they saw us sitting here finished eating just waiting on the bill. Again as a former restaurant manager, for the sake of this business do carry out only until a bigger place can be purchased. 🤎

Staff service was horrible. I was intending to enjoy their menu of southern dishes. However, I was meet with a cold staff who chose to ignore me for 10-15 minutes as I waited to be seated. They were 3 open tables and I was the only customer in line. I have ordered food online from the establishment on several occasions with no issues. I welcome to order food to go but not to eat in their establishment.

I tried this place for a second time and I must say that it is soooo good! I tried the shrimp and grits and also their collard greens (I always add hot sauce to my greens though lol ) and everything was seasoned to perfection !

The hostess and the server were very nice. I ordered about 130.00$ in food. Everything tasted great. Unfortunately though, my pork chop had blood in the center. Seeing that ruined the rest of the meal for me. Everyone else's food was perfect. Possibility of me returning.

I ordered corn bread, collard greens, and red beans and rice from them. It cost me almost $30 and I got what looks like toddler sized portions! Smh I am so disappointed and will not be ordering food from them again.

My first time stepping into this black owned establishment. Blackened salmon and cabbage were good. Now the Mac n cheese, I really wasn’t too fond of; to me it needs a bit of tweaking. The red wine and moscato delicious!

Super underrated restaurant in the DMV!! The wings were super flavorful and fried great, and the sweet potatoes were also really great as well. This is definitely a spot that’s worth checking out!
