Parking lot was FULL, always a great sign. Our first time here, you go to the counter and order. Don’t ask me how they remember your order when you pay. Food was awesome, as was the coffee. Service was on point. Definitely a local spot. Didn’t think you could get scrapple in Virginia…. Thanks …
Lovely little place in Triangle. Has always been busy when I stop in, but efficient and friendly service abounds. Order at the counter and find a seat. Food delivered hot. Pay up front, so no waiting for the bill. Had the chicken salad and fries. Was not disappointed.
Great local diner style breakfast place. Coffee is self serve. You order at the counter and pay at the counter when done eating. Met a friend I hadn’t seen in a while and we took up seats for 2 hours. The place was packed but we never felt like they were looking for us to leave. I even brought my own coffee (latte) and they were fine with that. Inexpensive and good, fresh food.
Quite a unique experience. Order and pay (after meal) at the counter, self-serve first cup of coffee, find a seat, and let the server handle the rest. Prices appear fair for their quantity and quality. Mostly local clientele with "regulars"
This place is on the North end of Dumfries on Route 1.I have been going to this place for over 20 years. It is simple food that is very good!It is a small cafe where you order your food, set down and they bring it out to you.The place is clean and well run.Family owned and operated. If you want good food, breakfast or lunch only! This is a nice little joint to visit. They close on Monday and Tuesday and at 2 pm every day.
It was not good.I’m sitting in the parking lot outside this restaurant. The bacon is cooked and then kept lukewarm. Like a lot of restaurants. I found that whenever they do this it’s not a one time deal that’s how they operate. The pancakes were the worst I’ve ever had, which is saying something. They were barely cooked. I could hardly eat them. I had to take a drink of coffee which wasn’t great with every bite to choke them down. I ate about 2/3 and then gave up.The place is cozy, and sort of local feel which is nice. The service was fast and friendly. You were at the counter and pay at the counter. No big deal.Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I doubt it, I want to like this place they got higher ratings, and the people seem real nice, but the food was terrible. Sadly, I’m in from out of town and will unlikely ever be able to go here again, or maybe that’s a boon for both of us.
Great little cafe for a country cooked breakfast at great prices. Friendly and polite staff. Good selection of food for breakfast. Great service.
It's a great little restaurant that's sort of like a diner. It's good basic food and surprisingly good coffee too.
Family owned restaurant, just very small in space & limited hours which makes it a perfect place to eat at. Varied menu, great food & prices wonderful & caring staff. ? people from all walks of life are there from families to Marines & all the locals. 1st time ever there & loved it.
The food is very simple, but done very well. Quickly made, friendly staff. The atmosphere is between non-existent and dorm room…but for some reason it kind of works for a “diner”.Minority review: It’s in Dumfries which is mostly black & brown, however the patrons did not reflect that. A hint of that real “southern” white…but no mistreatment.

Diabolical...they call that corn beef sandwich? $15 crazy bad with a nice smile. The worst food I have ever eaten by far
I have been here 4 or 5 times now and everything that I have gotten from this place is phenomenal! Hard to find little home-cooking type places like this in this area. Thank you for providing great food and great service!
We love Dumfries Cafe. The staff is the best ever, and the food is terrific! The atmosphere is so welcoming and inviting. They make you feel like you're part of the family here.We tried Dumfries Cafe on a recommendation, and would feel terrible if we didn't recommend it as well. It's a must try!
Kid-friendliness: This Cafe is very kid/ family friendly.
Parking: We arrive early and have not had any problems parking.
My wife and I had breakfast at Harold and Cathy's Dunfries Cafe on a Saturday morning. Dumfries Cafe is a wonderful little diner on Route 1, right where the northbound and southbound lanes diverge. It's actually right between. We started with coffee, which was served at the table. Food is ordered at the front, but delivered to you at your table. My wife had two eggs over easy, with scrapple and white toast. She really appreciated that they had scrapple, as most diners don't. I had 3 eggs scrambled with home fries and grits, also with white toast. It was exactly what I wanted. And the white bread was soft and made great toast. I don't always get to say that.Service was friendly and quick. Coffee was refilled without having to ask. We will go back, and I suggest you do too if a nice diner breakfast is what you desire.
Food and staff was outstanding! Stephanie was very welcoming... wish I caught the other young ladies' name
