El Papi Street Tacos and Birria Tacos (Dumfries)

On October 25, 2025 I came in for the first time and ordered the nacho fries for my wife and the 3 taco combo. On the fries I asked with no aoli, sour cream, or tomatoes because my wife is allergic to tomatoes and she cant eat certain things, but she loves nacho fries. She was excited to try these being from California. When she got it, she didn't expect it to be/or look the way it did. It was pretty bare. So I brought them back and asked could I receive a refund. There a girl there with green hair who told me I couldn't receive a refund and that they made it the way it was asked. She kept changing the story. First she said, there was no way for her to process a refund without management there. Then she said she could do if she called. Then she said that she may be able to do it if she called her manager. Then she called someone, spoke to them and then came back and said she wasn't doing it at all. I told her I wasnt trying to cause any trouble, but i didnt think it was fair. We weren't satisfied with the meal and we should have have received a refund. She tired offering dessert, but we don't really eat sweets. She was willing to offer me dessert for free, but not the money I spent back to me. I asked when the manager would be back, and she said tomorrow. I told her that I would be reaching out to him/her about this. This is unfair to customers. I should have been able to get my money back. There was no signs or anything in writing saying that there was a no refund policy. The fries were about $16 and I dont see why she couldn't have done that for me.

First time going here and will never go back

We decided to finally try this spot for a quick bite and drinks, but left disappointed. The place was completely empty at 5 PM on a Saturday, and the staff wasn’t very welcoming as we walked in. Ordering was confusing — we had to use a kiosk for food and order drinks separately at the table. We paid extra for chips and guac (no complimentary chips and salsa, which is surprising for a Mexican restaurant). Drinks came out separately, were icy and watered down, and the loaded fries seemed undercooked and lacked flavor. To top it off, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot, and staff brushed off our concern about the temperature. Unfortunately, not an experience we’d return for.

I had been eagerly anticipating the opening of this restaurant, and we finally had the chance to visit with some friends. The food was good—I’d rate it about a 7 out of 10. Unfortunately, the customer service was very disappointing. We didn’t feel welcomed, and it really affected the overall experience. I’d like to give the place another try, but my husband says he won’t be returning.

I was looking forward to trying this spot based on the reviews but...unfortunately I will not be back. Friendly service? Not even close....The prices for 2 tacos were outrageous and small portion...

Hate to do leave a bad review but it was so BAD. It was 6:30pm not busy at all but they only had one lady taking care of the bar and orders AND serving the food … we ordered the Super torta and some tacos . It was bad . It didn’t come with all the ingredients in the description. They add under cooked hotdogs that made me and my fiancé sick afterwards. The “ Carne Asada “ was not Steak it was some type of fake meat like the ones in frozen meals at the dollar store . Unfortunately me and my friends won’t be returning . We over paid & tipped for a terrible experience.

Not impressed. Tacos are okay. Second visit I ordered a shrimp salad. Wasn't fresh at all , shrimp was fishy. This place could work as a quick stop and grab food if nothing else is available, but not a fan. The biggest contributor to my reviews are service and food integrity. I rank this place low because acknowledging and welcoming all customers is reserved as high on my list of approval. The female worker did not greet me as I walked in and was the only patron in the restaurant. I had to greet her by saying hello although we made eye contact the entire walk towards the kitchen area past the bar. I asked her about an item on the kiosk menu while I was entering my menu, she obliged with a brief answer. I thought the mood was just low and this was normal. To my bewilderment, while waiting for my food a couple entered of another race and as soon as they pulled the door open, the same female staff member shouted a “hello” welcome from the same area she stood when I entered. Kind service, fair treatment and gratitude warrants support. I will not return.

We were hungry and saw this new spot on Rt234 in Dumfries.
It took a while to order because of the great choices! I started with the grilled octopus taco - incredible! Everything we ordered was true Mexican street food. The restaurant had a great vibe too. We can’t wait to go back, dine in and get more into the menu. Did I mention the friendly staff?

Stopped by for lunch. I got the shrimp and chicken tacos. My friend had a burrito. They serve alcohol if you are looking to dine. Great place to take a group of friends for food and drinks.

Place is a overall vibe! Haven’t had a torta that good in years. Highly highly recommend is worth every penny .10/10
