This hidden gem is amazing. I live 5 hours away and I’m trying to recreate the recipes 😆 —5 stars! And the service was great, who I believe was the manager was so sweet too. And what is that tea you all had? Queen Anne’s amazingness… probably going to try to find that too ! I hope to be back!
Literally thought this restaurant was closed down from the outside. So cool to walk in and see such a nostalgic atmosphere and class.
Food was top notch, pizza amazing!
Bartender even surprised us with a little birthday cookie and candle when she overheard that it was my husband‘s birthday. Five stars!
This is the go to spot for va tech grads an there family the town is a little town where people r nice an friendly an the food is amazing it is a must try the only down fall is they r only open for dinner
The Palisades provides a well crafted and delicious dining experience that is certainly worth the drive to Eggleston. The locally sourced menu changes seasonally, but the quality remains excellent all year-round.
Perched above the New River, the restaurant proudly shows its past as an old general store. The interior feels like taking a step back in time, as the walls display a century of local memorabilia. The well-preserved historic building creates a welcoming atmosphere for guests no matter the occasion.
Absolutely a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere! We were so impressed with everything — delicious food, warm and friendly service, and charming retro general store vibes. The homemade soup, pizza, chocolate cake, and ice cream were all incredible. Honestly better than so many restaurants in DC. Highly recommend!
Such a quaint place. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent food.
By far the best dining experience in the area. Consistently outstanding, creative food options in an old general store. It’s a bit out of the way but well worth the drive.
They’re consistently packed so I would suggest reservations unless you want to sit at the bar. Attire is varied— from people coming up from the river to well heeled parents visiting kids at Virginia Tech. All are welcome.
Food wise their cocktails are inventive, wine list creative and the food menu outstanding. Everything is scratch made and local. Their steaks are what dreams are made of (try their ribeye with Gorgonzola butter), wood fired pizzas fresh and loaded, and their key lime cheesecake outstanding.
Must visit when in Giles county or nearby.
This is a great find. The food and atmosphere are outstanding.

This is truly the best dining until you reach DC
The food is amazing, the chef and staff are honestly excellent. This is NYC level dining, in the middle of nowhere. Wild boar to their lamb and salmon.

We had our company holiday luncheon there. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious, no complaints here!!
I wish I could give more than five stars to every category here! The Palisades is one of the best restaurants I’ve experienced anywhere, and by far the best place in Southwestern, Virginia. The hospitality is so warm and gracious the moment you walk in the door.everybody there is having a great time and enjoying the most amazing cuisine. Even the dishes that I make it home, I can’t make them like this. Yes, I would drive four hours down from the DC area just to come here for brunch or dinner.

Every time my parents come to VA I bring them to the Palisades. The Sunday night atmosphere is lovely & it is the best way to prepare for the week ahead. We have never had a bad meal or time & the staff & entertainment are always lovely.
Dietary restrictions: I have to eat gluten free & they are always knowledgeable & accommodating.

Me and my Wife, Kayla, came here to eat after a special trip from WV. Every mile was worth it and then some. It started with a peaceful beautiful neighborhood by the river and then an old general store that had a sign that read “Palisades Restaurant”. With Liam as our server and Bison flank steak cooked perfectly, I would say you couldn’t possibly get any better than that. But then the atmosphere sets in alongside the beautiful back roads and flowing rivers under the bridges. Keep in mind these beautiful views are strictly the compliments, while the food and service here are the main contender! LIFELONG CUSTOMERS INCOMING, WISH I COULD GIVE MORE STARS.

First time at Palisades, mater dei at front desk encourages us to go upstairs, nearly empty (first bad sign) "oh its overflow" - I'll come back and check to see how its going (never checked back), waiter was Liam, was wonderful person and did his best, ordered the Bison and Pizza - a few tables filled up, it was slow service - long wait, (second bad sign) pizza dish delivered no mention of second dish - 5 minutes later, the $30 bison dish arrived = cold. Sweet potatoes and green beans - Cold. Liam offered to remake or make warm, I chose to make warm, he came bake saying they would remake dish - despite not being able to eat dinner with my son, the food eventually came and all was good, until the mater dei - aka "manager" arrived at the side of the table saying she understood that food was being remade, I said - no it was here (I was trying to enjoy my meal), I said it was ok, it was a service issue, probably being upstairs, she took total offence (your in the wrong job, you are in the wrong job) and became agitated, very unfriendly and someone that gets bent out of shape easily, made the entire experience worse and walked away, totally unprofessional with a chip on her shoulder. If you can't take constructive feedback and empathize with your customer, get another job. This restaurant is totally out of the way, poor service, overpriced for that matter and not work the trip. Good luck, we will not be back.👎👎👎👎👎
