China Taste at Fair Lakes Shopping Center offers an affordable Chinese dining experience, featuring dishes such as crispy chicken wings, fried rice, and a variety of soups and noodles. However, the environment is unclean, leading to a disappointing dine-in experience. I stopped by for some food, which was served hot, but the quality was subpar; for instance, the hot and sour soup lacked its distinct flavor, and the combination rice had more rice than other ingredients. Overall, both taste and quality need improvement. The service was decent, but overall, there is room for improvement across all aspects.

I never write review, but I felt I needed to ss I've been seeing quality decreased. This has been my go to Chinese place for 5 yrs.The eggdrop soup had half the amount of egg as it usually does, and the broth was bland and tastes different than it usually is. I ordered 2 entrees and received 1 pint of rice. The Kung pao chicken was subpar, again not the sauce flavor its had the 50 other times I've ordered it. I know times are hard but I hope they go to their old recipes and not skimp on egg, meat and sauces. (Ot give 1 pint of rice for 2 entrees)
One of my favorite local spots! The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. Their combo plates are super satisfying and great value, and the crab rangoons are the best — crispy, creamy, and perfectly sweet. Definitely a local favorite for takeout!

Gross & Ghetto: Gray Duck For You!
Our family rarely eats MSG but when we did it was typically from China Taste. Always the standard order: lo mein, fried rice &/or triple delight. Always heavy on the onions/veggies. Always light on the meats. Sub par but on brand.
Last night, my neighbor stopped by unexpectedly. We decided to order crispy duck as we love Peking Gourmet in Fall Church and haven’t been in years. Colossal mistake. This was NOT that.
The first thing we immediately noticed after opening the container was what appeared to be a large, chewed up bone sitting on top of the bit of crispy skin. B/C it was mostly bare, we were confused. Why anyone would think to include it? Was this a mistake? Was I given an employees meal by accident? Was it a disgusting mistake?
After removing the gnawed on bone, we saw the duck meat looked old, gross and gray. Samantha took a bite and said it was tasteless and rubbery. I called the restaurant and spoke to the same guy who’d sold me the culinary catastrophe. I emphasized the random, chewed up bone and he stated I could bring it back for a refund.
Today, as soon as I entered, I was met with contemptuous glares by the cooks; an old man in a dusty blue hat and filthy apron sitting in the back of the restaurant & an old woman picking her greasy scalp while cooking without gloves. REPULSIVE. It was a look behind the curtain that I never asked for. I couldn’t unsee it, though I desperately wanted to.
The cooks began yelling at each other and pointing to the bag of BS I’d brought back. Then, as I’m handing the cashier my card for the refund, the old man comes over and begins to scream in my face. I don’t speak the language but I smelled his hot & sour halitosis breath. I turn my face and take a step back in an attempt to shield myself from his offensive stench. It was repulsive, ungodly and deliberate.
Curious but calm, I asked the cashier what the old man said and he laughed at me. I asked again and he nervously said, “nothing, nothing, nothing. It’s ok. Everything ok” as the old woman aggressively stomped by me to trash her gastronomic repugnance.
I must’ve stuck a cord as it seems most reviewers state they took the loss. Glad I was reimbursed but my goodness, talk about insult to injury! Do yourself a favor: forgo the trauma, drama and vulgarity. Get the duck from Peking Gourmet Inn, in Falls Church and get the MSG anywhere else.

The food was flavorless and the chicken in my order of chicken with broccoli had a very slimy/gum-like texture. We ended up throwing the food away which was $50.
We usually order from China express in centreville but they were closed today and we decided to give this place a chance but we will not be ordering again

Restaurantji Recommends
For side of fried rice it was just soy sauce and white rice, no eggs or veggies like other places do, orange chicken also did not taste how I was expecting, service was okay, not very friendly or welcoming

I will give them 5 stars for the service, no matter what you talk about the food. The restaurant closes at 10 PM, I was hungry and placed the order online at 9:45 PM because I was craving Chinese food. Drove to the restaurant at 9:55 PM, store was closed with light off. I already paid online so decided to gave them a call (with little hope that they will pick it up). But THEY DID PICK UP MY CALL! I got my food, happy belly, good deal too. And no complaints , good attitude as well. Felt bad since I dont have cash on me but definitely will be back!

ps. to other review that might read other negative reviews by entitled people.
“they so stingy with sauces” - the f you want 10sauces for 2 eggrolls?
“they are small portions”- you just fat af
“DELIVERY took 2 hrs but deliverer was nice” - do i need to point out the obvious or you under the spectrum?
“i feel negative energy” - maybe check up yourself with psychiatrist. your mind might be on its way out
“roaches” - funny how only that part group of people experienced roaches.. maybe start laying roach killers around your house
