Hamrock's is a wonderful local restaurant, which has consistently good food, and value. We enjoy their restaurant week menu. In celebration of my birthday, they provided a delicious dessert with a glass of champagne! Very thoughtful and generous!

Took mother out for her birthday. Spent $40 per person on restaurant week menu and even upgraded for lobster. Where to begin? Our server had no clue about anything on the menu. In fact, when we got a huge piece of oyster shell in the fried oysters, the server didn't even know oysters came from shells. Lobster bisque tasted more like tomato soup that I could have made by blending canned tomatoes with cream and a touch of lobster stock from the jar. Caprese salad has three ingredients: tomato, mozzarella, basil. At least use tomatoes that aren't so unripened that they are pink. Flavors in the sauce that came on both the rockfish and lobster was nice but that's about it. The lobster, for which there was a $15 upgrade, was chewy and overcooked, and the claw meat completely stuck to the tendon. The best part about that dish was the potatoes. Vegetarian dish of “crispy tofu” is such a deceptive description and the waiter didn't even bother to verify when we asked before ordering whether it was truly crispy and fried. It is an entire block of tofu that's not crispy over mediocre rice with vegetables that look like they could be from a school cafeteria. The chocolate cake beware is full of booze and if you have a child, there is not much that is kid friendly. The weather was nice so that was lovely. Nothing was done about the 1” x 1.5” piece of oyster shell buried inside of a fried oyster that my senior mother nearly broke her tooth on. The waiter never checked on us or refilled water. Maybe because he knew it'd be an automatic tip for a large party. The support staff was working his tail off and did all the work and should have gotten the full tip himself. Sorry to be mean but we've been waiting for a special occasion to go here and this was not only not worth a $230 bill, but is a great disappointment.

This was our second time dining at Hamrock's and we were disappointed in the food quality both times. The service was good. It was nice to sit outside on the porch. It is unfortunate that the quality of the the food is sub par.

We were there for restaurant week, where there was no beef entree on the menu. I got the fish, which was so-so. Not bad, but...fish. The lobster bisque tasted good but lobster was noticeably absent. S'mores ice cream pie dessert was delicious. It was topped with marshmallow fluff instead of whipped cream, which was a little weird. Would I go back? Absolutely, but maybe not for the restaurant week menu.

We had a great experience at Hamrocks, as always! The service, the food, and the ambiance were all exceptional. Hamrocks is a little gem that once you go there you will return often.

The food was generally good, but our dinner during restaurant week stretched into 2 & 1/2 hours due to very slow service. Everyone was doing their best, but they were clearly short staffed.

This was our first visit to Hamrock, but definitely not the last! What a positive experience! Great food, excellent service by our waitress Anna, and everything to a reasonable price. We will be back soon!

Such a lovely brunch seated on the patio — the weather was perfect. Came here for restaurant week, and the potato vegetable soup was my favorite.

Service was attentive and helpful. We were seated quickly. Drinks came quickly. Food was well prepared. We each had an appetizer. The NY strip tostinos were outstanding. The NY strip melted in my mouth. The Caprese salad was the other appetizer and was a nice riff on a traditional standard. My wife had the salmon salad. The salmon was cooked just right and wasn't overpowered. The greens were fresh. I had the pork which was done medium, juicy and flavorful. Loved the potatoes and vegetables. I had the Hamrock cookie for dessert which was properly decadent. My wife had the berries and cream which was, if possible, even better. All told, a great lunch - as always at Hamrock.

Great waitress and service. Popovers are always a hit. Enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich this time.

Hamrock's is our family's go to restaurant for family birthdays and other special events. The food is outstanding and never disappoints and the service is wonderful. Set in an historic house in downtown Fairfax City, it is unique. Parking is also great, and the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating on the veranda. I highly recommend Hamrock's if you want a really nice experience in a casual setting.
