Really lovely restaurant that serves delicious food. Had lamb shank served with saffron rice carrots and raisins. Arnold Palmer tea perfect. Recommend highly for a special treat without exorbitant prices.

Please correct the address on Google maps. It is supposed to be 10416 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030. I am currently at the location shown on Google Maps. The restaurant is not here at all. Bummer!

Was headed to Havabite in Old Town Fairfax last night, only to find that they've moved! I asked the owner about it, and she shared that they had been kicked out of the building after 48 years of tenancy. So they decided to move Havabite into the same location as their other restaurant that they bought more recently, Mazadar.

We had some food from both restaurants and it was all great. The Gyro plate tasted exactly the same as it has since I was a kid, and the hummus from Mazadar was outstanding too. The restaurant itself is also stunning, with a big fountain in the middle and cool seating.

Please support these guys, as they are recovering from being kicked out of their location and still making excellent food.

For a while, I've had a penchant to get a gyro sandwich, and when looking for one, I found Havabite Eatery.

They funny thing is that it's been years since I went to Havabite. I first ate there in 1980 or so.

Anyway, the gyro contained a generous portion of meat along with a nice dollop of tzatziki sauce along with lettuce and tomato. Very tasty and filling.

This was a phone order for a sandwich only, so I spent no time in the restaurant.

If you have a hankerin'' for a gyro, hop on over to Havabite.

Menu and recipes have changed. Looks like they are inside a different restaurant now? Maybe they sold the menu and name? Moussaka had a totally different sauce on it. I thought it was good but wife who loved their old recipe wasn't a fan of all the green peppers.

Sucks to lose one of the very few good Greek restaurants in the area.

Super calm atmosphere and definitely comfort food. Family friendly Greek food. Nice people, good location, bad parking.

We heard good things but dining in was very uneventful, and the gyros, while they tasted good, were ready almost immediately after ordering and then gave us all stomach aches all night. They ran out of fountain drinks too.

Tip: I'm highly suspicious of the other reviews here. It's cramped and uncomfortable to boot. We tried 4 different items on the menu and we could not finish a single item because of how bad everything tasted. There was nothing authentic about this food. Every time I drive by this restaurant I recall my abominable experience here and how you really can't trust reviews.

Moussaka was topped with CINNAMON LOAF BREAD.

We came during the fall festival so service was understandably not perfect. It was very busy and crowded so I personally let go of several service missteps, no biggie. But the straw(s) that broke this camel’s quite forgiving back is first, I wanted to order a small Greek pizza but was told it would take an hour. I get it. Busy day. I ordered moussaka which is my favorite—only to see the family that came in behind us being served pizza—about 15-20 minutes BEFORE our orders (burger, gyro, chicken tenders, fries, and my moussaka). Second, when my moussaka came it was topped with BREAD! Cinnamon loaf bread to be exact. No bechamel—or any shade of cream anywhere. I spent the rest of my meal Googling recipes of moussaka—traditional, modern, fusion—to see if I was missing something. Maybe this is how they prepared moussaka in some remote region of Greece? I wanted to return it but I was 1) hungry, 2) we waited for a good half hour for our food to arrive, 3) I fully commiserated with the hard-working servers, and 4) didn’t really feel it was worth it to wait for a replacement. The bill was ~$70. Completely not worth it at all. But it was an experience—a learning experience—although one we wouldn’t repeat.

$45 order and asked for a little extra dressing for my $9 mediocre salad and they said it would cost extra. Seriously? Half an ounce of olive oil with some spices? Give me a break. Food was good but the nickel and diming is ridiculous
