A true hidden gem in Fairfax – Taste of Silk Road is absolutely worth the visit!
This place is under new management, and you can tell right away that they’ve stepped things up. The flavors are bold, authentic, and comforting – exactly what you’d hope for from Silk Road cuisine.
We tried several dishes, and each one was outstanding: • Mongolian Beef – tender slices of beef, perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of savory and sweet. The texture and flavor were spot on. • Dapanji (Big Plate Chicken) – the star of the menu. A huge, shareable dish with juicy chicken, potatoes, peppers, and an amazing sauce that clings to every bite. It’s hearty, spicy, and incredibly satisfying. • Laghman – hand-pulled noodles in a rich, flavorful sauce. The noodles had that perfect chew and really soaked up all the spices. Easily one of the best laghman I’ve had in the area.
On top of all that, their coffee is fantastic – strong, smooth, and pairs beautifully with the meal.
The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is attentive, and you really feel like you’re discovering something special. Fairfax has plenty of restaurants, but this one truly stands out.
Highly recommend giving Taste of Silk Road a try – whether you’re already a fan of Central Asian cuisine or trying it for the first time, you’ll leave impressed and full!

The food is delicious however, the portions were quite small. $21 for the Mongolian beef I expect to attest have a full takeout bowl.
This place is extremely overpriced for the quality of food they serve. I am quite familiar with Uyghur food and this is on the lower level for taste and yet the prices are of a top notch restaurant. Zero atmosphere too so I would skip.

I’ve been going to Mim’s for years and have always enjoyed it, but last might was such a disappointment. We ordered the stir-fried rice noodles, cold skin noodles, and a steamed beef bun. Unfortunately, both the rice noodles and the cold skin noodles tasted like leftovers and had a sour smell, as if they were spoiled. They were really hard to eat. To make things worse, my friend felt sick last night and I ended up with diarrhea after the meal. Sadly, I can’t recommend this place anymore — if I could give a negative rating, I would.
