I am a thai cuisine reviewer, i travel around NVA, DC, and MD trying the best thai food. I stopped at this place for dinner and was seated quickly and served efficiently. I ordered Tom Yum Shrimp, fried calamari and drunken noodles. The appetizers were excellent and tasty, The entree was not. I am disappointed to say that this place does not know how to make authentic drunken noodles. Their drunken noodles lacked spices and it was like i was eating a drunken noodle made by a rookie chef. I hope they do something about the drunken noodles as soon as possible.

This is the kind of spot you bring your out of town friends to when they want some delicious Thai food. I took one of my girlfriends here and we were both so pleasantly taken aback by the chill atmosphere, easy and attentive service and the amazing food. One thing I appreciate is that they don't play about their spice. Thai spice is the HIGHEST level us mere mortals should attempt but not without warning. For truly terrifying individuals, there exists double Thai spicy. My advice is do not undertake anything in the Thai Spice realm without a Thai milk tea and upmost serious love and appreciation for spicy. Our recommendations are as follows:•Extreme Drunken Noodles (can't go wrong with an "Thai" classic. Although next time, we will go the more authentic route with a dish from their "Thai-licious" menu) with beef.•Street wings (these sweet spicy wings were BOMB. We got medium spicy)•Thai Tea (this milky classic was a perfect addition to our hot dishes)The place was super clean, pleasant, not crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon/early evening. Staff were informative and attentive. It happened to be my birthday and they brought out an extra treat. I feel lucky to have found such a sweet spot!I eat hot Cheetos and usually get the spiciest dish on most menus. I was not afraid and I got Thai Spice for my entree. I have never had something so hot and it took me a few Thai teas to handle it. As someone who rarely sweats, I am happy to be perspiring for the first time. Next time however, I will be going with Hot instead of Thai spice lol. Can't wait to come back again!

First time at Similans. Waitress was very welcoming, and atmosphere was pleasant. My appetizer looked like a sample, with three small spring rolls. My meal was prepared fast, and tasty, but way overpriced for the amount you receive. The white rice was like two table spoons, and they charge you like $4 for extra rice, that should be free considering the $19.00 you payed for your meal, a meal that not only didn't fill me up, but was looking at wife's meal to help supplement me. I don't know if these Thai people are aware of this, but Americans like to eat a lot, and actually have left overs because the meal is too filling. Thank you for the tasty food, but unfortunately most of the Thai Restaurants I've visited over the years; have tasty food, but not enough, especially for the price. Sorry I will not return to any more Thai Restaurants.

Ordered the ginger entree with shrimp. It came with WAYYYYY too much ginger. Strips of it, chunks of it. WAY too much onion and not enough mushroom (which is what sold me on the dish in the first place). Portion was small, I noticed the rice container was smaller than other rice portions at other Thai places. Won’t be ordering again.

This used to be my favorite Thai place. After Covid, the portion sizes went down and prices went up significantly, for both dining in and delivery. Additionally, they seem to have changed the recipes for some dishes, they just don't taste like they used to, and they refuse to accommodate the customer on dishes that just taste nothing like they should. They just claim "that's how we make it now". I went back a few times to give them "another" try, but disappointed every time. It's really a shame, will not be going back.

Wonderful experience at a wonderful restaurant in Fairfax. Be sure to watch my video of this place on my YouTube channel at Subrina W my world. I had the duck which was such a generous serving I had to take half of it home with me to finish at another time. My husband had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, his usual choice of Thai dish, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Ordered bang bang and pad thai chicken. Both are medium but they are pretty bland I guess need to order spicy. Chicken was a bit dry.Free parking.

Use to be our go to Thai place for proximity, over all it was decent food. Last time we ordered they burnt it so bad it smelled our kitchen up pretty bad. I called and they said I had to come now to replace. I was tired after work, had company over and didn’t want to leave. I asked if we could come another day and they wouldn’t honor for another day. There is no way they didn’t know it was burnt. Everyone was walking outside to get fresh air. That to me seem like bad customer service, they should honor their mistake and realize that people don’t wanna go back for second time I’ll never go back again.

Not sure why this place is rated so highly. The food is so so at best. The soup I ordered had really bad smell. I asked them to change it and still same issue. The place is not that clean and feels dingy. Almost every other Thai food place nearby is better than this place. Service is super slow cleanliness is below average. Unclean eating area kills appetite

I ordered delivery last night and when it arrived I noticed there was a mistake. Instead of basil eggplant and tofu I got a container of crispy rolls. I called for a refund and the girl that answered the phone said I’d have to call back Monday because it’s a busy Friday for them. I understand Friday night is a busy time for most restaurants. It doesn’t make sense to not refund your customer right away when you delivered the wrong order. Very poor customer service.**Update: I never got a refund from Similans Thai for the food I didn’t receive. I wouldn’t recommend ordering from this restaurant.

Has gone downhill significantly since covid. Portions smaller, prices higher. Drinks up 2$ each. Ok we get that.Food quslity and taste has plummeted. Ordered online and paid (57$). Called b/c the one sauce I wanted a second one of is not on the list (chili lime sauce) or else I would have ordered it online with the order.2 people on phone--well we can cancel your order and add the sauce and you can pay again. Seriously????. For an almost 60$ order you cant add a side of chili lime sauce???? As it is, the one i got with the dish is tiny and half full.I wont be back soon. Lots of Thai restaurants in Chantilly.

I really enjoy the food here and the aesthetic is really interest with the beach theme. I had the panang curry which wasn't too spicy and has a sweet taste. It just comes with chicken and broccoli so if your not a big fan of a lot of vegetables it's a good dish to pick. Over all a nice to place to dine at or order food from

Last 2 times I have ordered from here the food has not been that great. Many times before it was good. After the meal tonight I have to leave a review. Kanom Jeeb being over 9.00 I expect a little quality at least. All 5 of them were cold, extremely soggy piles of mush. They were disgusting really, I could only get one down. I even picked up my order early so, I can only imagine how bad they could have been (if that's possible) The Pad Thai was borderline flavorless. Having the freshly cooked orders just sitting by the door with cold air constantly coming in makes no sense. I can only hope in the future when I decide to try them one more time, the quality has improved. As I just wasted almost 30.00 for garbage.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Interior looked bright and clean. Seated promptly by cheerful server. Ordered some personal favorites for first experience: beef salad, chicken curry, and mango with sticky rice (acknowledging to self summer fruit like mango would be out of season). I was pleased our server checked about my peanut allergy and verified nothing I ordered had peanuts.Salad appetizer had good color, correct temperature on protein (requested medium rare), and pleasing spice level (requested medium). Curry likewise had an inviting level of spice (requested medium) that allowed me to taste the eggplant and chicken. Eggplant cooked so well with firm-but-not-too-firm texture that I reminded myself to cook with eggplant more at home. Fried dumplings between appetizer and main were pleasantly crispy surprises, although I would have appreciated more filling and warmer temperature. Dessert went home with me and did not last long. Mango was actually just ripe enough to be pleasing. Sticky rice was refreshingly not too sweet, and I wonder whether the rice could be a little less clumpy and more loose for my taste.Service was genuine and pleasant throughout, with my iced tea being refilled automatically as any customer might like and plates being removed promptly after confirming with me. The server was honest to admit being relatively new, and her earnestness would encourage me to go back as well as for the solid food offerings. Prices did not seem terribly high for the area. I would return if I had a Thai food craving, as this place conveniently provided a good experience.

Wow, can't believe I found a Thai resteraunt that actually makes it 'spicy'. I ordered the Kra-pow and the pork was nice and tender which I wasn't expecting. Will definitely be coming back.
