During one of my transitional phases (relocating, not *that* sort of transitioning), I had been coming here every once in a while when Cafe Kindred was still relatively new and owners Gary and Jen were still doing almost all of the work! I'm rarely in the area now, only to visit family. I've noticed how busy it's become when driving by, but haven't stopped in for years until today. Unfortunately Gary wasn't in; I miss my chats with him, but it still felt nostalgic and very much like I remember it. Their current staff is great, and manager Amber is awesome! Great neighborhood spot. And big "lol" to all the butt-hurt naysayers who think they're the main character. Welcome to NoVa.

Still one of the best local restaurants for a weekend breakfast! Friendly staff, good food ( English breakfast this time), pretty decent prices, neighborly atmosphere, casual and comfortable and not a bad wait for a table.

Service was excellent, it was a busy Sunday brunch rush when we went but the line moved quickly. The tuna sandwich was okay. I just didn't like that it was open face and the menu said it would be on ciabatta bread but it seemed to be on a piece of sourdough. Ambiance was nice, we sat outside and the seating was solid. Overall, we will be back!

I absolutely LOVE Cafe Kindred!! Their poutine dishes always satisfy my breakfast and brunch cravings. They are also incredibly kind and attentive to notes from their customers. I marked an order gluten free and they called specifically to see if I needed to make any adjustments. Thank you, Cafe Kindred!! You’re the best! ???

Ordered the curry poutine, wife ordered the original. Hers was excellent, while the curry poutine was extremely watery and soupy. Water logged fries. That being said, her food was good and the service was excellent so I'll chalk it up to a fluke. The baked goods looked excellent, I'll have to try some next time.
Great spot- loved the service and atmosphere. Ordered a cappuccino and the egg and veggie skillet- my eggs tasted and smelled a bit weird. It was very off-putting, otherwise I'd have given them 5 stars. Not sure what happened there. My husband had their croissant breakfast sandwich and it looked amazing- should've had that instead. It was very busy when we went so it took a while to get coffee but the staff is awesome.

Love the ambience - this is a great indie coffee shop. Always good food and I like their hot chocolate. Sometimes hard to get a seat, but it's popular for a good reason!
